Nice quay at Sami, tree lined with lots of restaurants that are reasonably priced. Lots of sailing craft, some of which are very large and expensive docked in the harbour. The town is lovely at night and relatively lively but relaxing.

We love to go here to visit the tavernas along the harbour. We watch the yatchs and cruisers that are moored there. Some nice little shops to mooch through too. People are friendly. It is easy to catch the car ferry across to Ithaka.

We stayed for one night with a catamaran. At the entrance of the harbor we was guided. There was a small fee (6 euros) and free water.

We only spent a short while here , but so nice quiet and relaxing .sitting along the front and having a long cool drink. Had a wander around the shop's. And wasn't to busy which made it even nicer. People we met very friendly.

Very Nice place for a walk during the evening time. You may see many yachts with people coming to visit Restaurants located alongside the sealine. Night-life is going well in this small Nice Greek city.

We liked Sami because it was laid back and not over developed. There are prettier Greek towns but Sami does have a very pleasant waterfront with plenty of bars and good tavernas. And you can get ferries from there including to Ithaca. If you explore...More

we stayed here, which worked out fine - it's centrally located to other sights and beaches, but the town itself is a bit run down. good for lunch or dinner, or to go to a store, and nice strolling in the evening along the port.

Hi Betty B. In short I don’t know. I have heard that the ferry operator is changing so there may be different ports to leave from. When we visited in October I could only see signs for departure to Ithaca. There is a good... More
