We visited this palace while staying in Troisdorf, its about a 40 minute drive from there but the train station is literally opposite the Palace gates if you want to get the train. There is a large carpark nearby which cost a couple of Euros to park in. The palace and gardens are beautiful and if you dont wish to... More

This is going to sound like a very snobby review. This is a lovely place with some very interesting features--I particularly liked the dining room that was all blue and white tile so diners could stay cool in the summer. However, having been to other palaces in Europe that are far more ornate and grand in scale, we found this... More

Had a lovely visit to Schloss Augustusburg. Despite being an UNESCO site, it was such a personal, friendly & welcoming place to visit. I was slotted into an English tour, last minute. The tour guide was fabulous & very knowledgeable. The palace, grounds & rooms are up there with Potsdam palaces for beauty & architecture, rare furnishings & history -... More

I travelled from Koln Hbf to Bruhl Mitte by U-bahn, rather than S-bahn, and really enjoyed the ride (took over half an hour). There were clear signage from the station to the palace. Guided tour only (in German), but an audio guide in foreign languages can be hired for free of charge, in exchange... More

This palace is an easy train ride from Cologne and well worth the visit! We only had 2 hours to devote to visiting, but I wish we had longer to really appreciate the gardens a. To see inside Augustusburg you must take the 50-minute guided tour which is only in German (headsets in other languages are available). We're glad we... More

The Cologne train stops at the BRUHL station opposite the Palace. The journey only took about half an hour. There is a very nice café restaurant opposite the station if you need a break.I can't remember the name but it was the only one and the food and service were very good. We opted for the combined ticket which covered... More

A magnificent palace that is worth the visit. I highly recommend a guide. You will see around 20 of the 120 rooms. Each has their own function and story. The grand staircase is like none you have ever seen. Note: no photographs are allowed inside the building. The garden is spectacular and you can walk to nearby Hunting Lodge Falkenlust.

We really enjoyed our visit to both this magnificent palace & the nearby Hunting Lodge Falkenlust. It is certainly not for those who like their decoration to be minimalist, it is full on baroque. We loved it, each room was just more elaborate than the previous one. We quite enjoy guided tours as you learn so much about the history... More

The Augustusburg Castle sets on some beautiful grounds and represents the early rococo architecture. The main entranceway hall if magnificent and beautiful. The history behind the prince-archbishops is very interesting.

This palace is a magnificient example of the Baroque style in Germany. A unique piece difficult to see after the war. The gardens are wonderful for a stroll in a sunny day.
