Actually, Bhimtal lake is bigger than Naini lake but Niani lake is more popular in Nainital. but I like bimetal because of neat and cleaned blue water. less crowd. cheap boating cost. the view is very good when are boating. but there is no good restaurant.

Bhimtal ('bhim' means big and 'tal' means lake in Hindi) is the largest lake in Nainital district and Kumaon region and 2nd largest in state of Uttrakhand. It is situated at an altitude of 1370m above sea level and is about 22 km from Nainital. We reached here around 1:00 pm while travelling to Binsar from New Delhi. We paid Rupees 50 as entry tax in Bhimtal town. The lake is very beautiful and has wonderful views of hills all around with green slops. One can see the fascinating cover of clouds around there on hills. One can do boating here and can go to a small island which has a restaurant and has an aquarium to see. A masonry dam on the lake stores the water for drinking, for agriculture, for fishery and keeps the inflow of tourists here.

Bhimtal lake is a gem of a place, with spectacular views around the serene lake, untouched with an old world charm away from the the hustle and bustle of crowded nearby place like Nainital.
Several reviews must have already mentioned about eateries all around the lake activties like boating, kayaking etc however one thing that is not mentioned anywhere and wanted to share from my visit which is a MUST thing to do is visit the lake ghat (from dam side) during during evening hrs. A passionate local singer sings romantic Hindi songs with his music box and mic is certainly a crowd puller and certainly worth to stop by. Tourists/couples sit /enjoy dancing on his music.

Bhimtal is a lake city named after Bhima, the mythological character of Mahabharata. We visited the Bhimtal from Nainital on a day trip. The Bhimtal lake is at a scenic spot with a small island at its centre. It offers splendid views of nature's beauty. The lake offered similar boating and water activities like other lakes, hence not done. As compared to Nainital, Bhimtal is a less crowded place. The lakeside houses several hotels and restaurants.

Enjoyed the boating ride with the mesmerizing view. There are no good restaurants around the lake. There is a small market near the lake. One can go for a nice walk around the beautiful lake in the evening

The lake is surrounded by deforested hills. Lots of development activities around that spoil the looks. The only nice part is the end of the road that locals call daat. There are some street food vendors and also boating can be done.

It has scenic beauty with good points for photography. Also can visit hanuman temple near the lake.
Overall must visit place if you are at Nainital. Please carry proper warm cloths if travelling from Nov.

A tourist place adjacent to Nainital. Comparatively less gathering to Nainital. Roads are terrible. If you have visited Nainital then no need to come here. Hot air balloon and Para gliding are two extra attractions here. Simply wastage of money to visiting here.

Am planning to reach bhimtal hotel and have 2 and half days to cover bhimtal, nainital and mukteshwar.
1. Will it be okay to hire full day cab from hotel itself for day 2 nainital and day 3 mukteshwar? What should be the approx price for a cab ?
2. How to plan day 1 in bhimtal itself since I will reach around 2 pm ?

In the season time, it's very difficult to get the local taxi for Nainital & Mukteshwar. I suggest you to hire a private taxi to enjoy your trip.
