Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Do not go out of your way or expect to be overwhelmed. It is a nice little park with a walk enough to stretch a bit. If you like clambering through the bush you can get to the dam by the river.

Bissell Park is a beautiful stretch of park along the Grand River in Elora. There is a little waterfall, a boardwalk, and a lot of room for having a nice picnic. You can also find a couple of Swans floating by on occasion.
This is a perfect place to stroll as you enjoy your ice cream or Gelato from Sweet Distractions, and take in the beauty of Elora.

Every Year in the summer - August to be precise, they have a music and arts festival in this park, and it is packed. Get your tickets early if you want to attend Riverfest Elora - it sells out fast.
Pack a picnic lunch and spend the day with your family, friends, or dogs in Bissell park.

This park is located on the Grand River. There is a boardwalk along the river which is quite nice. Also a very good biking/hiking trail that starts at the pedestrian bridge over the river. This trail will take you right into Fergus. It is well maintained and peaceful. We have gone kayaking here as well. There is a portage spot that isn't too long.
There are also nice, clean, accessible washrooms. The only problem is that they aren't the easiest to get to if you have a physical handicap. You have to go on a gravel trail up a little slope and then there is a bit of a lip at the top. Could be better thought out.
A covered pavilion for picnics is near the washrooms. There is the damn as well. You can fish here but be forewarned...if you catch a trout you must release it. The MOE has this as a "No Kill" Trout Zone. And you can only use single barbless hooks and artificial lures...no bait is allowed.
At the other end of the park is an area for ball hockey, basketball and hockey in the winter.
For entertainment they hold the Riverfest in August, the Ice Jam in March, Canada Day celebrations and the Farmers Market all summer on Saturday mornings. Also, KIPP, the Kitchen In the Park Project, hosts various culinery events during the year here. You can volunteer to help with their events (if you need community hours for school they have them) and you can even rent their space and use the wood fired oven. There really is a lot of events and activities to choose from here.

A small, cute park with not too much to do but pretty to walk around in. The swans on the water were the attraction when we were there and a lady was feeding them at the water's edge. Quiet and peaceful.

We went exploring at Bissell Park, and enjoyed it! We walked the boardwalk, which was in good shape. It lead us through some woods, and then to the dam at Grand River. So beautiful and peaceful!

Bissell Park is quite small and is a great picnic spot. However, there is a short trail that leads to the side of a small waterfall. It is a great photo opportunity but visiting here would be quick as there is not much to do.

Small nice park with a short walk to the waterfall. Probably would be a nice place for picnic. There were people fishing that day also, not sure if they caught anything.

Still fabulous. Fourth year for the Elora Community Theatre's Shakespeare in the Park. This year's production is Macbeth and it is marvelous. Professional quality performances in our own backyard. Runs until August 11-13. Cost is just a pass of the hat at the end of the show. Take your lawn chair.
