We had an amazing 4 day private tour with Discover Sumatra, including an overnight jungle trek and orangutan spotting in Bukit Lawang, sunrise hike up Mt Sibayak and viewing Lake Toba and Sipisopiso waterfall as well as airport pickup and drop off.

The orangutan tour was unforgettable, the experienced guides Fabio and Imam were incredibly attentive and made us feel very safe in the jungle. Their knowledge of the jungle was really valuable and we saw many orangutans, leaf monkeys, gibbons and they taught us about other species we encountered such as ants, snakes, leeches and monitor lizards. They were very respectful of the wildlife and made sure we didn't stress the orangutans, it is clearly very important to them that the nature reserve is protected. The food provided was fresh and delicious and it was some of the best we had while in SE Asia. The guides brought all the rubbish and fruit rinds back with us to protect the ecosystem.

After the jungle we were picked up by a very friendly driver Imran who we explored Berastagi, Mt Sibayak, Siposipiso waterfall and the view of lake Toba to round off our trip. Imran was very fun to talk to and gave us a lot of insight into life in Sumatra.

We booked everything with Discover Sumatra just a few days before our arrival in Indonesia, they did a great job organising everything for us so we were able to fully relax and enjoy the experience!

Wonderful experience! With only 4 days in Indonesia we are so glad we booked our itinerary through Discover Sumatra. Travelling was straightforward and everyone was attentive and friendly especially Imam and Fabio our jungle guides. They were really helpful in pointing out the wildlife, providing delicious meals and snacks, answering our questions and making the whole experience more enjoyable. We were so lucky to see so many orangutan!

Discover Sumatra did a great job with a packed itinerary including an overnight jungle trek, sunrise volcano hike, thermal hot springs, waterfall walk and views over lake toba all in the short timeframe we spent in Sumatra.

Could not recommend enough!

10/10- such an amazing two days trekking and camping. It was only myself and my girlfriend on the tour and we had Fabio as our lead guide with Imam as the assistant. Couldn’t have asked for anything more from them, they were so accommodating and friendly and had very good English. They were also both very knowledgeable of the jungle and the animals and nature within it. Along the way we regularly stopped for breaks at which we would be provided with an abundance of fruits. Lovely cooked meals were also provided for lunch on both days and feast of local food was also cooked for us at our camp in the evening. Rubber ring rafting down the river back to base was the perfect way to end.
Would also like to say Christine was so easy to communicate with and she made booking and organising the whole thing so easy and stress free which is exactly what you want- so big thanks to Christine too!
Overall it was a fantastic experience and definitely something I’ll remember forever!

We were a group of 3 that organised a two day, one night jungle trek with a night either side at Indra Valley Inn - all organised very easily with Christine by email. The communication with Christine was very straight forward, and she was really helpful in the build up to the trek with packing lists, where to meet our driver at the airport etc.
Unfortunately I became ill while in Indonesia and with Christine's advice, still decided to go to Indra Valley even if it meant not going on the 2 day trek! Saprol, his uncle Obiwan, and the rest of the team at Indra Valley were so welcoming and so supportive!
Two of the group did make it out on the trek with their lovely guide, Fabio, and his assistant guide, who were both very friendly and knowledgeable about the jungle. They really valued having two guides for a small group particularly when hiking on more difficult terrain, and for an extra pair of eyes to spot wildlife! The food provided on the trek was delicious, and there was a huge variety! The campsite was rustic but comfortable and was a really beautiful location.
I had a miraculous recovery after one night and Saprol and Obiwan very kindly found me a guide to go out for 3 hours so I could experience some of the jungle! Imam took me out, and was equally friendly and knowledgable about the jungle! We all really valued how passionate the staff were about their work, the jungle, and it all felt very well coordinated!
We loved it so much, that on our last morning decided as a group of 3 to book another last minute 3 hour trip into the jungle with rafting back down, which was so much fun! As a group we were fortunate enough to see several orang-utans, white handed gibbons, thomas leaf monkeys, a variety of macaques, a snake, monitor lizard, scorpion, hornbill... the list goes on!
We would all highly recommend booking with Discover Sumatra!

We are a couple who booked our 2 days 1 night jungle trekk trip online and Christine was very prompt in answering us. She gave us all the information needed and provided a taxi from the airport (an additional 50 euros). We arrived late at night and Christine's partner met us and guided us to our guesthouse. He gave us all the information needed for the tour and was very friendly and helpful. In the morning we met our assistant guide (Pele) at the guesthouse and he took us to the starting point. Our tour guide Fabio was very friendly and kind. He gave us information about the jungle, the animals and even some crazy stories about his experience in the jungle. Pele was constantly trying to spot animals for us. We were provided with a lot of food, amazing fruit and tea and coffee. Gluten free food was provided for one of us. We were with another two guys so we were a small group which was nice. Fabio was patient and let everyone walk at their own pace. We saw many types of monkeys and orangutans with their babies. One even walked right in front of us!

Although there were other groups it wasn't crowded and it was a true jungle experience. Make sure to wear long socks as there are leeches around. We had an amazing dinner in the evening once we got to the campsite. We enjoyed chilling outside after dinner just chatting and watching insects while listening to the sounds of the jungle. It was so surreal. (we were lucky it wasn't raining as the night before it rained all night)

The next morning we had breakfast and continued the trekk. At this point we separated as the other group were doing the 3days two nights tour. We were with Pele the assistant guide. The trekk down at the end was quite challenging but doable. Once we got to the river we had a great lunch and then rafted back to the town. Rafting was a perfect, fun way to end the trip.

We highly recommend booking this trip! Our only regret is not doing a longer trekk! We loved it and want to go back.

We did a 2 night jungle trek starting from Bukit Lawang. It was well organized.
It was a great experience hiking through the jungle and see all types off different animals. The food they cooked in the evening was amazing and vegetarian friendly.
We also had the best guide named Fabio. He was realy helpful and knew everything we asked him. I would try to ask for him as your guide.
Thank you for the amazing experience.

Myself and my father did the overnight jungle Orangutan trek. Amazing wildlife, lots of orangutans and other monkeys to see on the trek. Our guides Ibo and Inchan were so friendly, helpful and knowledgeable about the jungle and wildlife. They both spoke excellent English and were very kind and helpful on the trek. Prepared delicious food on the way and also took us away from the other tourists to experience some quiet parts of the jungle where we got to see some orangutans just by ourselves. They also were very attentive and were always happy to stop for a short rest and help us in the slightly steeper parts of the trek. The food at the camp was a delicious combination of many dishes, beautifully presented by the cook at camp, you will certainly not go hungry! The hut by the river we stayed in was basic but clean, they have mattresses and a small blanket provided, you may want to take an extra pillow. Lovely to swim in the river after a hot trek. Beautiful jungle walk and so much wildlife. The guides are very respectful of the animals and keep a good distance so as not to disturb them too much. Thank you Christine, Safrool, Ibo and Inchan, it was an amazing experience.
