St James Way are getting more popular every year, and it's no accident this lovely but pretty raw chapel got her very own shell to put her on the world-famous pilgrimage map. Although the chapel itself only deserves a brief halt for a quick prayer and a couple of minutes to admire the St James statue on the left side of the altarpiece, pilgrims will have to go to the main marketplace, 50 meters away, to have their credential stamped at the Tourist Information Office opening hours.…

The original chapel dates of 1383, but was rebuilt several times throughout history. The chapel today dates after WOI. It is barely decorated. A quiet place on the main square of Lier. Next to the door you find a text with the history of the place. It has been through a lot. It is protected since 1939. A lot of pelgrims pass by, since it is on the route to Compostella (you can get your stamp in the Tourist Office).…

This chapel, like many houses, was burnt down in WWO I, so only the outside is old. The inside was recreated after the war and is sober and nothing special. So, it is rather to have a quick look inside, than needing time to explore.

This chapel has on old, or old-looking, exterior. When I passed it last summer I was disappointed to see it closed. Now it was open, but I was disappointed to see how modern the interior looked. Really nothing special to see inside. The description said the chapel got destroyed in the war, but I had still hoped for some historic stuff inside. Still two stars, since entry is free.…
