Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I spent a week at Circle of Misse and what a week! For my writer self it was one of the most exciting things I could have done. Wayne is such a talented guy and his ability to help the Writer wherever they are in the process is uncannily spot on. The environment is superb - you know as soon as you enter that the place is a touch of heaven, you sink in and you be. It was so stimulating and enriching. Wayne & Aaron have made something special there. Merci, merci. Darcy

Having read all the reviews - I was expecting something special but the experience of actually being in this fabulous place was way beyond anything I could have imagined. Tremendous support when needed, wonderful food, a creative and ambient environment, diverse and interesting fellow travellers and a feeling of peace. Perfect.

I just returned from a heavenly week of painting twice a day, with Janette's demos and instruction we all completed many paintings of remarkable expertise! Traveling to the Chinon Fortress, wine "cave" and market as well as the visit to the Orion Chateau (now containing European Modern art!) added an exceptional experience of the surrounding area towns. The sensational food, prepared by our hosts Aaron and Wayne and the quaint Chateau we stayed in completed the most remarkable trip I've ever experienced!

I've just returned from a week of painting at C of M. Aaron and Wayne are the consummate hosts who make you feel as though you are staying with long lost family members. The en-suite rooms are comfortable and the food is to die for( I gained 4 lbs). Janette our painting guru was so helpful and encouraging when the painting was not going as well as desired. The evenings were delightful with wine and nibbles at 7pm and then a long leisurely dinner with fascinating conversations. The week was pleasantly broken up with a day in Chinon and a morning at Chateau D'Orion

Thank you thank you for your generous review. We had such a fun week, and agreed on the long lost family members :) If it makes you feel any better I think that we put on a few pounds too. Oi!

Just spent a wonderful week painting Plein Air with Janette.
Aaron and Wayne are the perfect hosts, creating amazing meals and introducing us to the region with visits to a chateau and nearby villages.
A great group of people. We laughed a lot.
Highly recommended as a creative and relaxing experience!

Circle of Missé is the place to learn, relax and have fun. Wayne and Aaron run a mix of courses and retreats in a quiet corner of France. They attract writers of all abilities who benefit from the focused atmosphere and the very high quality teaching. But the food is so good that this time I wanted to learn some cookery. Aaron is a passionate chef and I enjoyed learning from his varied recipe book, while taking full credit for the amazing results. The chocolate and caramel tart will never be forgotten! You can make the holiday as relaxed or as intensive as you like. Your hosts will do everything they can to make sure you enjoy yourself. You’re surrounded by people on similar tracks and it makes for a memorable week. I’ve been three times and I doubt it will be my last.

With 2018 drawing to a close, I look back on my two visits (my ninth and tenth!) this year to the Circle of Misse with nostalgia and pleasure. One reviewer says Misse is "a slice of Heaven", another writes "Still Magical". The Circle of Misse deserves such praise. It is an extraordinarily creative environment, so unique that it’s difficult to put into words, but I'll try. Aaron and Wayne are remarkable hosts. Whenever I step through the front door, the stresses of everyday life melt away. What awaits guests are a warm welcome, delightful bedrooms with ensuites, aromas of the first meal (they're all sensational), a browse in the library or a stroll in the garden. But there’s more. Wayne Milstead is an inspirational writing mentor, Aaron Tighe is a superb chef, together they make the Circle of Misse a place to return to over and over again. And I will!

The most incredible week in the most beautiful surroundings. Wonderfully generous hosts with a wealth of knowledge. Wayne really believed in us and got the very best out of us as new writers. A very well structured course; every need met and Aaron's wonderful cooking was an inspiration! I will definitely be returning. I cannot thank you enough for helping me to get my novel started. See you soon!

As part of my 3 week trip around Europe, I had booked a week at Circle of Misse to get some much needed headway on my novel that I have been writing on the side for the past 3 years. People often hear the word 'retreat' and conjure up pictures of vegan food, yoga, and caffeine & alcohol-free zones etc.. that's exactly what you need when trying to write a novel! (Not) Don't worry - Circle of Misse is certainly not of that vein!

Misse itself is stunning, and I had a lovely private room with desk and ensuite on the 3rd floor of Wayne and Aaron's beautiful home. When I wasn't writing I went running or walking in the French countryside, plus I also got to see a couple of sights around the local area with Wayne and the other guests.

Each meal throughout the day was tailored to me having a gluten free diet and Aaron lovingly prepared gluten free dinners with fresh local produce, which started with cocktail hour (code for 'wine o clock') at 7pm each evening. And don't worry if you don't drink, the intellectual & highly enjoyable conversation will keep you upright till bedtime.

Wayne provided me with invaluable writing exercises and insightful feedback which I will be forever thankful for. My writing has improved already, in such a short amount of time.

I left feeling enriched in so many ways. Go. You won't be disappointed. Aaron & Wayne are two of the best hosts I have met in my life. I feel it's highly likely they will see me again :)

Sarah Thanks so much for such a positive and thoughtful review. We loved having you with us at Missé, and we look forward to hosting you again in the future. You achieved so much while you were here, please keep up the good work. Your novel definitely has legs, we look forward to seeing which directions you take it in when you have a first draft to share. Thanks again for making us part of your vacation, and part of your writer's journey. Aaron & Wayne
