This 12 acre garden is a lovely, picturesque and relaxing place packed with plants of interest throughout the year. A winter garden, laburnum tunnel, alpine scree with pool, rose walk, edible woodland, seasonal borders and rhododendron filled woodland with waterfall are just some of the highlights you will find here. The garden is both intimate and informal with a network of meandering paths that invite you to explore. Relax in the tearoom with adjoining terrace lawn that affords some wonderful views into the surrounding Staffordshire, Shropshire and Cheshire countryside.

Originally designed by Colonel Clive for the love of his wife, The Dorothy Clive Garden was set up as a charitable garden trust with the objectives of maintaining, enhancing and developing a garden inspired by the memory of the late Dorothy Clive. Today the garden is expressly intended to be used for the enjoyment and benefit of the public and to support ongoing horticultural education.

The garden hosts a range of horticulturally inspired events throughout the open season, including the twice yearly Plant Hunters' Fair and the Annual Chilli Festival. There are also special events for children including garden trails, giant games and summer picnics.

Visited today as they said the rhododendrons were out both (but not all are). The rhododendrons and azaleas are so beautiful we walked round all the gardens looking at the new large green house we rewarded ourselfs with a tea and cake at the end it wasnt cheap but very nice. Although its a beautiful walk about Im not sure... More

Thank you for your review and your comments. All of our reviews are carefully considered and monitored. The Rhododendrons and Azaleas number at least 280 different varieties and do indeed flower over quite a long period - stretching from February until late June. The crescendo tends to be in May but obviously this is weather dependant. We are a registered... More

We've been meaning to visit the Garden for a long time and eventually made it this week! It was every bit as beautiful as we'd been led to believe! The rhododendrons and azaleas are stunning, as are the tulips. What a wonderful array of colours! Most of the garden was accessible to my husband and me, even though we both... More

Thank you so much for such a positive review. We are thrilled you enjoyed your visit and look forward to welcoming you back again soon. The roses and herbaceous borders will soon take centre stage followed by the 'hot' borders later in the summer. More

My friend and I had a thoroughly enjoyable day today despite the dull, dreary bank holiday weather. It was my first visit and I was really impressed by the creative layout of this beautiful garden. There were plenty of spring flowers in bloom and the azalea walk was just coming into full bloom. Having seen the garden in spring, I... More

Obviously a bit early in the year so not a lot out, but there was an ample amount of flowers out including daffodils. There are two car parks one for disabled at the top of the hill, which if like me you have an elderly person with you I'd recommend dropping them off in the disabled car park at the... More

Thank you for taking the time to review your day at The Dorothy Clive Gardens. As you suggest the upper car park is definitely recommended for elderly/ disabled visitors. Designated bays are sited in this area. There is quite a lot of essential maintenance work going on during our low season. We are aiming to have this completed by the... More

An impressive collection of colourful plants and flowers beautifully laid out on a south-facing slope together with a maze of walks through magnificent trees, rhododendrons, azaleas, camellias in the seclusion of an old quarry. A recent addition is a glass house with more exotic plants. There is also a first-class cafe/restaurant with a good choice of dishes and lovely views... More

Just back from a wonderful day at the Clive!  A fabulous turkey dinner after a quiche starter and with a lemon and raspberry pud to follow; plus an opportunity to finish off my Christmas shopping in the gift shop.
