Beyond impressed
Oct 2019
We booked the Bulkeley Wing of Buntingsdale Hall for a family weekend of three couples so had lots of space. The welcome was warm and the table was laid with tea and home made cake, with a basket of goodies including proper farm made butter, fresh bread and jam from the local girl guides. The rooms are beautiful with an appealing faded grandeur and the apartment contained everything you could possibly require. We had planned to go out more but found the place so appealing
and comfortable that we stayed in to enjoy the space, with a fun afternoon in the games room and evenings around the table playing board games. We will certainly return.

Weekend away with friends
Mar 2019 • Friends
Having recently stayed here, we were disappointed with the lack of cleaning of the place, bed sheets were full of what appeared to be dog hairs, blood on the pillowcases, general cleanliness extremely poor, tea cups were very dirty and so were tea pots etc, everything needed to be washed in the kitchen prior to use, toilets were not clean, body hairs under toilet seat etc, it was bitterly cold, as radiators were not fully functioning. Such a shame as this place has a lot of character. Investment needed and a deep clean would be advantageous.

I'm so sorry you were disappointed. Such a shame, as I appreciate that going away together is important. I've had a look into this, and our cleaner feels she did a good job. Her work is excellent, and she's very experienced. However, if we've missed something this time, I'm so sorry.

Wonderful space for a family get-together
Oct 2018 • Family
Made to feel welcome from the moment we arrived - local produce and home made cakes left for us to enjoy. A large and comfortable space. A little tired in places but this did not distract from our overall enjoyment. A perfect space for a large group - family in our case (aged from 4 to 60) There were 10 of us and we did not feel on top of each other but had plenty of space to enjoy time together in the large kitchen, by the open fire in the spacious lounge and in the fabulous games room.
Brilliant grounds to explore and plenty to do locally.
Be aware that there are steps up to the accommodation, which is all on one level once you get there.
Our hosts could not do enough for us.
Would recommend to any group - we are looking forward to going back!

A Truly Memorable Hen Weekend
Sep 2017 • Friends
As both the Bride and Hens were of a maturer age (40++) we wanted something a little different from the normal cocktail making bar crawls .
Throughout the planning we had kept referring to us being 'to the manor born' so when we arrived on the Friday at the hall and were greeted on the stone steps by the family dogs ( an Irish wolfhound and a sharpie) we just knew it was going to be a perfect 'manor born' weekend.
The apartment is actually in one wing (Bulkeley wing) of the hall with its own Separate entrance and intriguingly at the end of the apartment's hall is a door that can only be opened from the main hall itself as it leads to the main stairwell.
The apartment is very well equipped and easily caters for 10 - we had no difficulty in stocking our copious amounts of booze for the weekend (there's a double fridge and a fridge freezer) and meals were easy too. The apartment has many original features including sash windows and shutters and an open fireplace in the lounge however it also benefits from central heating so we found it lovely and warm.
On the Saturday some of us used the park and ride to go into Shrewsbury whilst others walked into market drayton or used the huge games room in the basement. Saturday evening we had hired a chef to cook a 9 course meal so we also hired the formal dining room in the manor hall - the owners also allowed us to use the drawing room for pre-dinner drinks - it was magical - we dressed formally and dined by candlelight and a roaring fire (amazing privilege as you can imagine how susceptible an old house is to being burnt down!)
The owners were great - they allowed us to explore the Manor House no where was out of bounds (although we chose not to explore their private quarters) and on the Sunday we strolled around the grounds and their private lake.
We would love to go back perhaps stay in summer so we can take advantage of the private courtyard with bar-b-q
The only reason I haven't given the hall a 5 rating is because the internet was non existent and a few of us also struggled with mobile reception (hurrah!) also it's not suitable for anyone with mobility issues as you have to access via an old winding staircase.

Historic stay
Apr 2016 • Family
We stayed at Buntingsdale Hall for a week with family, 10 of us ages 18-80!
It's a wonderful place and the traditional seat of the Mackworth family, who still live there!
The apartment has 5 bedrooms, all with on-suite toilets, 3 of the rooms have baths and one a shower cubical. There is also a lounge space with plenty of seating and a TV, A large kitchen diner with a table big enough for us all to seat round for meals. We cooked a family meal every day for 10, so fair to say there kitchen has everything you need, and if it doesn't ask! Victoria was very helpful getting us some more cups and cutlery when asked.
There is also a games room that you can have use of with a full size snooker table, pool and table tennis. This room was a bit cold this time of the year, so if you plan of using it remember to light the log fire in advance as it's a big space to warm up!

A couple of points to bear in mind:
1) It's a grade 2 listed building so something can't be modernised. (single glazed sash windows can be a little draft, so use the wonder shutters, they do help!)
2) the apartment is accessed by a very old 2 storey wooden spiral staircase.

Overall we had a great time here!

great place for a group stay
Sep 2015 • Friends
We had a great weekend here; 8 adults, 1 small child, 1 dog. Very comfortable and warm - was a great venue for us. Lots of equipment in the kitchen, open fire in the sitting room, TV with a variety of dvds on offer. Couldn't think of anything we wanted that wasn't provided. Supermarket close by and lots to do in the area.

Unusual and Historic
Jun 2015 • Couples
Visited Buntingsdale Hall with a group of 4 couples (and one child) for a weekend away. We were looking for somewhere quiet with plenty of space to socialise - both of which the Hall provided in heaps! There is a large kitchen diner, a comfortable lounge and a spacious games room with log fire and full size snooker table amongst other games. Following a period of requisition during the war this Hall has been reclaimed by the family of the original owners. They live in the property and are restoring it to its former beauty. They kindly welcomed us into their home and provided us with coffee and a tour of their work so far. The building is full of history and character and soo peaceful. Please note that this property is being restored and not modernised - so do not expect power showers and lifts! The grounds, including a lake are beautiful - if it is peace, quiet and space that you are seeking - Buntingsdale is your place!
