Murano Glass - Master Class !
Feb 2020
Our hotel organised a one-way transfer to the island with a visit included. We had 2 demonstrations which showed 2 different blowing techniques: how a vase is made with additional molten glass added to form the handles and design and then the rearing horse - it's so quick, blink and you miss it ! That's a compliment. I am a hobby stained-glass afficionado and although glass-blowing is completely different, I understand how difficult this is to master and make it look so simple and easy - do not be fooled.

We were looked after by Daniele, who showed us some of the features in the impressive showroom. We were not worried about the hard-sell as we knew from our hotel that these are professionals. I did indulge in a fish aquarium and light box. This is an investment and I had a strict budget. It was signed/engraved and I have the certificate. They will inscribe especially for you/with your name if you would like!

There is also a shop on site offering demo objects and other glassware at a very reasonable price, so something for all tastes and budgets. I do not regret at all purchasing something of exceptional quality done by a Master and will treasure the memories of seeing the techniques in action!

The good, the bad and the meh?.
Dec 2019
Factory paid for our vaporetto ride from Venice to Murano(thank you).
Fortunate to visit the only time of the year they do demonstrations (fascinating).
Bought 6 beautiful pieces (expensive), told all shipping costs included (helpful).
One candlestick in a set of 2 arrived broken(disappointing).
Received a bill from UPS for duty & customs fees(confusing, these aren't shipping associated costs?).
Waiting to see if either UPS or Gino Mazzuccato accepts damage responsibility(disappointed, no return communication from Murano).
Great day in Murano experience, frustrating every day after experience. When they tell you they will cover all of the shipping costs, be prepared to receive a bill from the shipper anyway.

Excellent demo and no hard sell
Nov 2019
We went across by public vaporetto to Murano (10 min ride) in late November hoping to see some glass working in action, but fearing a lot might be closed. We came across this place open and were happy to pay 5 euros per adult to watch the demo since this was what we had come for. There was no charge for our 11 year old daughter to watch. The demo was everything we had hoped for! It was amazing to see the skill and artistry of the glass artisan, who firstly blew a glass vase, then fashioned a model horse in about a minute! In the shop (just the ordinary shop on the same floor as the workshop - we must not have looked rich enough for the gallery of high end pieces!) there was no hard sell at all. They sell the demo pieces for 5 euros a glass horse and 10 euros a glass vase - we couldn't resist one of each! We thought the whole experience was brilliant and worth every cent.

Murano Glass Factory is Amazing!
Nov 2019
Our hotel provided a free opportunity to take a water taxi to Murano and the Glass Factory. It was a very nice ride to the factory and we were met by a representative that would take us on a tour. The craftsmen that are glass blowers are truly skilled artists and the process is amazing (I even got a chance to glass blow while I was there). The disappointing part of the trip was the sales pitch and pressure to purchase. I was just looking for a couple of drinking glasses and we were being pressured to purchase very expensive pieces. They were beautiful, but the pressure was not appreciated. I recommend the tour as it was interesting and great to see how the glass blowers worked. Beware of the pitch.

Fantastic Experience
Oct 2019 • Couples
Our hotel included a free water taxi to this place with us having to get back on public transport. We were met by someone who showed us a piece in production, the methods, furnaces and general work environment. Fascinating. He then took us through endless rooms of art pieces and eventually to their shop. The art pieces were unbelievable and we didn't feel any pressure to buy. The shop proved to be too irresistible.

VISIT TO GLASS FACTORY
Mar 2019
We went into this gallery and were told that the demonstration was in progress. At the back there was the glass technician take a ball of glass from the furnace and twisting, blowing , turning , cutting to make a work of art. Amazing to watch the show were we all on benches and he invited various people to help. At the end there was a decorative piece that he had made. We went into the shop and bought some items he made.

A broken expensive purchase...
May 2019
We were in italy in May 209 and bought a fish Murano glass piece. Eagerly expecting its arrival but it was broken upon arrival. UPS assessed the parcel and concluded that the shipper did not pack the item properly.

We have written to Gino and waiting for their respond. As this is a S$5000 purchase, we trust that this will be dealt with seriously.

Will update on the development of this matter. Next round will attached the item.

Great trip with JR at Gino Mazzuccato Murano Glass
Sep 2019
Spent a good deal of time with JR and saw some wonderful glassblowing and unique works from the factory. Observed a Master Glassblower in action! Purchased a perfect piece of a Master’s work that will always remind me of JR, Murano and Venice. Grazie!

Enjoyable Experience
Jul 2019 • Couples
Our Hotel offered a free trip by private water taxi. They probably get a % of sales but regardless it was a worthwhile experience. The demonstration was skillful and fun. Children would love this. There was a shop with items to suit all budgets. Upstairs were the galleries with the real art, amazing. Items we purchased were packaged well and arrived half way round the world 1 month later in perfect condition.
