Only 10€ to have that demonstration is a gift, it was interesting and the master is impressive.
I will definitely come back with my 8 years old daughter as it's a very good educative activity.

I felt welcomed and taken care of. The demonstration was amazing and the voice over was in English. Loved the drinks and atmosphere.

I've read many reviews about day trips to Murano and Burano that include glass blowing tours...and that many of those glass blowing tours were terribly short and disappointing. With that in mind, I chose to visit Murano (and later Burano) independently. In short, my hotel offered me a free ride to Murano including a glass blowing demonstration, so I got to experience two demonstrations during my visit.

My first demonstration was at a glass factory and while the demonstration was very nice and lasted about 20 minutes. There were several glass makers but while one was making pieces for a chandelier the glass maker we were focused on made a cup and a cool horse. This experience included a salesman dressed in a snappy suit and a long, slow stroll with said salesman through their many, many (many!) showrooms. It was a good experience, but I could certainly do without the (very overpriced) sales portion.

My second glass demonstration was at The Glass Cathedral. I truly enjoyed this demonstration much more - the glass maker created a cool looking plate, a cup and a swan. The demonstration lasted about 20-25 minutes that started with an audio narration for about 5 minutes followed by music for the rest of the demo. Some might think it was too "theatrical" but I thoroughly enjoyed the audio history of glass, the island of Murano, and the cathedral building itself. And I loved the music that followed...solid hits from the 80s and 90s...Sting, Toto...for me it was awesome.

Oh, and the best part is that there were no salespeople and no pressure to buy (there was a very modest selection of glass creations you could purchase - I actually wished there was a bigger selection as I really liked the idea of purchasing something I just saw created).

Overall, I'd recommend skipping the day long tours, head to Murano (and Burano) yourself, and do this Glass Cathedral demonstration.

This was a wonderful experience. The cost of glass making classes for our family were too much. This was an incredible substitution (if anything - I can't imagine the classes being as enjoyable! It was mesmerizing to watch the demonstration. The ambience of the location was also perfect! We took the prosecco option and I'd say this was the highlight of our trip to Venice (and up there as being a top-five highlight of our trip to Italy!)

What a fantastic experience! Venice was the last stop on our first family trip to Italy. Our kids (9 & 12) had the opportunity to get a fun intro to glassblowing this winter, so Murano was certainly a stop on our list. Unfortunately my memories of the island from 25+ years ago was one of aggressive salespeople and monotony between the shops so I wanted to find something a little more interesting to keep the passion alive with the kids. We found some great reviews for the Glass Cathedral online, so while a bit pricier than other demonstrations, thought it would be worth a visit. I am so happy we did.

First of all the building itself is an early 13th century historical marvel that has lived many lives from religious residence to industrial glass manufacturing to event space. The family who renovated the building into what it is now performed nothing short of a miracle creating a very inviting and interesting space to host any event.

With glasses of prosecco or spritzes in hand, we settled in with a small group of various tourists to watch the show. Set to music for many parts, it was as much an exhibition of master glass blowing as it was a performance art piece. The show was about 30 minutes in length and kept all of us thoroughly engaged throughout with the highlight being our 9 year old allowed to participate in one of the demonstrations! Following the display we were able to explore the gallery and the building itself before leaving. Was a remarkable display of skill and artistry in an incredibly complementary atmosphere. (and no one tried to force me to buy a glass goldfish in a tiny bowl!)

Very disappointing. A 20 minute display to produce a few items. Without a commentary or explanation of what was happening. There was a couple of interruptions by what appeared to be a friend of the demonstrator. He and another couple were given drinks when non were offered to the rest of the group. It seemed a very "them and us" situation. But the most annoying thing was that unbeknown to us there are free or much cheaper demonstrations on the island and this cost us £17 as an advance booking online for a set time. Only to find that people can walk in off the street into the different glass factories. We feel cheated. Don't fall for it like we did.

Fun and informative performance. Interesting recording on the history of the building and the business. The "Maestro" glassmaker didn't talk his way through what he was doing, but it was interesting and pretty clear anyway. We had a great time
