This is certainly worth the effort to get here and it is an effort. There were times I thought I was turning into someones driveway and trusted google maps to help me find my way. The grounds were extremely peaceful and it was a meditative...More

We came on the train for the day from Thun as I'd read about the beautiful murals and statues and knew that it was of great religious significance. We are not Catholic but my husband and I were really moved, it's so peaceful and I...More

I'm not catholic but I heard about these stations. Usual way in the church is just to walk along the paintings. This is a magical way to read about the passion, ending with the resurrection. I would recommend this as a way to endorse your...More

This is a must see destination. A real special religious attraction hidden away in this small town. Truly amazing.

If you choose to drive up, beware the very narrow road (one lane only). There is public parking at the foot of the summit but there is also space for a few cars at the top if you come here off-season. The main Church is...More

We caught the train to Domodossola from Stresa and found it to be a charming town. The visit to the Sacro Monte was well worth the effort of the climb up the hill - really impressive work with excellent views.

The climb along the path to the 15 Stages of the Sacre Monte Calvary is quite steep but very pretty. Well worth the effort. I understand it to be a pilgrimage of the Catholic faith.
