Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Atmosphere and food was great and after eating lunch being able to take a stroke around the marked walks was so relaxing.

Always looking for somewhere different to go and had heard about this place for ages but had always passed by. Exceeded our expectations - pleasant staff who explained to us how to order with this being our first visit. Food arrived well presented and the sticky toffee pudding - well it was too much we shared it!! Will certainly return for more.

A wide range of rolls, paninis, scones cakes etc. ( but nothing cooked ). All looking very appetising. Paninis were very good, but coffee didn't quite match.

I think this is partly run as a social enterprise, so is worth supporting.

Thank you for your nice review, and yes, we are indeed both a registered charity and a social enterprise. I apologise because I think we confused you! We have quite a wide range of hot cooked meals but they are all on our daily specials menu as we change them to suit fresh seasonal ingredients, and it looks as though we didn't make that clear to you. Next time you are in we can explain the menus better. best wishes

Simply the best place in the area for coffee & cake, lunch or a snack. Then there's the added bonus of the garden centre and walks, which really are a hidden gem
People who haven't been for years, of whom I know many, need to drop in and see what a huge success this charity and learning based centre has become. Plus the bus services they offer to local communities are outstanding. I know BLP is a firm favourite of the Sheltered Housing tenants I work with.
Huge congratulations to the team that run it, especially the youngsters who work so hard and so well in the cafe. They are so polite, and try so hard, visiting kids should observe and learn. I will be there again this week with one of my several friends who wish they had this on their doorstep.
Local people, if you haven't been you are really missing out! especially on the loveliest selection of scones, and the best tasting, I've ever seen. Well done Boyndie crew!

What a lovely review. Thank you. And nice to see mention of the great work our Dial-a-Bus team does too. I will ensure everyone in the staff team is aware of your comments. We have grown a lot since we started back in 1999, and support such as your kind words gives us all a boost. Best wishes

Lovely old building filled with nooks and crannies now converted into little boutiques and a café and garden centre. With easy accessibility and walking in the wooded grounds, it’s well worth a visit. Vibrant and fun. Good value fresh food too at the busy café which caters to all appetites.

We started our trip in the cafe with some excellent cheese scones, a wonder round the grounds and then we decided to do the longer Turbine Walk as it promised also a historic trail round the old airfield. Sadly the walk was a bit disappointing, the heritage trail soon runs into an overgrown track that is barely passable, there is also a locked gate to climb. My wife and I blazed a trail through the undergrowth and were rewarded with some interesting ruins, but the faint of heart would have given up.

The gift shop and garden centre is however excellent

I'm a Chef, and I've taken pains to be the best in Scotland at making Cullen Skink.

I'm almost always dissapointed when I order any and sometimes it's truely awful.

Today I was served a masterclass in Cullen Skink, it was and I imagine always will be the best I have ever, ever, ever had.

I'm almost jelous, almost!!! If it's this good everytime I'll be a regular just for that and I live not too far!

Haddock??? Loads of it!!!! Seasoning? Neither of us added any, it was PERFECT.

Spent an hour in the gardens and even spotted a huge Chaga mushroom on a birch tree there.

Absolutely 10/10

This social enterprise which offers a gift shop, garden centre and cafe as well as a small museum documenting the history of the nearby WW2 airfield is easy to miss but we'll worth a visit. Look out for the sign on the main road between Banff and Portsoy and then follow the single track road.
The cafe menu offers simple dishes focussing on locally sourced ingredients. Portions are on the generous side so don't overdo your menu choices and leave room for the delicious homemade cakes and coffee which are highlights of the menu.
