Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We stayed here during the autumn event. So weren’t actually on the campsite. The event was great tractors, cars, bikes, dogs, Romany caravans … essentially if it’s old it’s here! The museum is nice & the volunteers are knowledgeable. The fairground mirrors & peacocks need a dust! It was great to see, hear and smell the steam operated vehicles & organs. There is a tea bar & a small souvenir shop.
The campsite has lovely views of fields and woods. We are self contained so didn’t use the showers / toilets. They need attention it was like going back to camping in the 80’s & buildings several decades older than that. Choice of nature reserves close by & a mile to the Shoulder of Mutton pub which is independent & has a variety of local ales / spirits plus good food. A peaceful place to spend the weekend or use as a base.

68 people enjoyed a visit in October 2021.
I arranged for my local car club to pay a visit and 34 cars displayed, and then we enjoyed talks on the exhibits, a train ride and a go on The Ark, a restored fairground ride.
The visit was enjoyable and the organist played some very memorable music while we walked around a enjoyed tea and biscuits.
The volunteers were so helpful and enthusiastic and the cafe volunteers were a pleasant lot.
Thanks go to Tom for helping this visit which was specially organised just for us.
To anyone reading this is a Steam Museum you must visit when in the Norwich/ Great Yarmouth area.

What an assortment of exhibits. There are steam engines, steam road rollers, etc but there are also lots of other related and interesting items. You can take a trip on the train around the grounds and a ride on a roundabout inside - watch out it may be old but boy does it go!
There's a cafe for a cuppa where you can sit with a cake and listen to an organ played. Lots of other odd things too - we really enjoyed our visit. The volunteers who run the place were all very friendly and helpful

I visited here with my partner when we called out for the VW fab event. A charming little museum. It's great to see the working steam parts. They even have an antique working ride in there. There is also an outstanding christy wonder organ which still works and they have someone come in and play a few tunes on it now and again.
Although the museum isn't massive it's nice to walk around.

Its some years since I visited Strumpshaw Steam Museum and as many again before I return. It is with regret that I have to leave a bad Tripadvisor review The museum opens at 10:30 I walked in just after this time, the attendant wasn't even ready, no change in the till, he said he'd take my admission and bring me the change as I walked round( which he did) . Of note the reception desk is also the counter for the cafe area there was a dog loose behind the counter which contravenes health and hygiene regulations.
Wandering around the exhibits there is an air of untidiness such as boxes of things left out, numerous aerosols and odd debri, folded trestle tables in front of a steam engine all detracting from, but telling of an unkempt apearance, too is the open, but clearly not recently used bar/function area, the dirty lifting carpet tiles. the exhibits themselves are either out of order, some in pieces, the brightwork a film of rust.
The volunteers sat around in the café area looked unmotivated, suggest have a tidy up, look at your museum from that of the visitors, get the out the Brasso, light your exhibits with spot lights and circulate yourselves around the exhibits engaging with them, and show what you can do to enlighten the public.

We went on the second day of this years Woodland Fair. Plenty of parking despite two fields being given over to craft stalls selling high quality items. The museum itself is first class with lots of exhibits.

Went on a day when there was an event on. Good for money that day. The event was classic cars. The cars were very bright and shiny. Owners where hospitable. The museum is fascinating and the speedway is a must. I can see my 11 year old might have got bored with just the museum so the event on helped.

We have visited many of the big steam rallys up and down the country and spotted this one advertised on our way on holiday so decided to attend. Weather was amazing and only ten pound each to get in to the rally (unsure of prices for just museum when rally isn't on) which is fantastic compared to some of the other steam rallys we've attended in the past. There were the usual steam engines, minature engines, vintage vehicles and motorcycles. Commercial vehicles and military service vehicles to look at. We also looked in the museum and looked around the showmans caravan and had a go on the steam galloper ride which was great fun. As a family of seven we spent a full day at the rally and children enjoyed the steam and vintage funfair and we all enjoyed looking around the various trade stands and craft stalls. There was plenty to see and do for a full family day out.
