We previously stayed at Streamside in 2006 and have been keen to return for years. We ‘upgraded’ though this time, to Holly Hut an easy stroll from the car park, but well hidden away. The fabulous shepherd’s hut easily accommodated the five of us (kids 13, 11 and 5) in two doubles. One is a high bunk and the other converts from a table. There’s running water but no electricity so torches and battery packs essential! There is a fire pit, covered kitchen area and a rustic shower which to heat you’ll need to get the fire going well, lower the bucket and top it up! A compost toilet is about 30 feet away which is as basic as you’d expect. For colder nights there is a log burner in the hut. A nice touch is the ‘sunroof’ above the bunk bed where you can gaze at the stars all night.

Wonderful tramp in the woods with dog off lead. Lots of amazing wooden structures going up but hidden away and sensitively built to be in keeping with nature. Great cake and coffee at the end. Highly recommend

Lovely little place with a sweet, tea room and simple country trails (£3pp). We initially went just for the Christmas tree (which is the smartest one we’ve ever purchased). Definitely worth an afternoon and plenty of friendly dogs should you have one.

Beautiful walk and scenery, great huts and different routes to explore. It didn’t rain but was wet on foot from night before. But still an easy walk for 4 year old and 3 month old in carrier. Cafe was lovely too, very cosy and caramel cake was amazing. Would definitely return. Bring wellies

We went on the off chance. Having lived locally for a long time and never ventured in we were pleasantly surprised. It is dog friendly and had a variety of lovely walks with activity areas for the children. There were displays of woodland crafts and events going on to keep your interest. I look forward to returning.
