At the right tide time a lovely break for lunch on the coastal path. Take a picnic and in summer pick blackberries on the way down.

The steep walk down to the beach means it is relatively quiet. A great place to spend the day with the children. Shallow enough to swim in and rocks to climb on, perfect.

We drove to salcombe took the pedestrian ferry to east portlemouth then walked the coast path to Gara Rock and back across the inland route. It's such a stunning place in the sunshine. Beautiful beaches too. 4 miles. Recommended

At £1.60 each way, it is well worth the short ferry trip to visit the beach, both for the sand, which the kids will love, and the views back to Salcombe. The ferry runs from the steps next to the ferry inn (also worth a...More
