- Chris RQueensland, Australia189 contributionsThe Shed RestaurantWe booked The Shed restaurant for Saturday lunch. Would recommend the octopus and lamb ribs as share plates with the potatoes and greens. All were very tasty and definitely enough for 2 to share. We had the sparkling and Pinot Gris which are both lovely refreshing wines. It was a bit warm inside the restaurant as the plastic sides were all down and there were no fans on inside. The outside temp was around 21degrees and it would have been nice if the sides were up just a bit to get some air inside. Other than that, this is a great location looking over the Derwent River and the vineyard all around. Great spot and great foodVisited November 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 10 November 2023
- Mike FHobart, Australia236 contributionsModern restaurant with imaginative Tasmania foodThis a relatively new addition to Derwent Estate and impresses as a modern restaurant serving imaginative food in a very pleasant setting. The menu is modern and focusses on Tasmania's local produce and represents an impressive mix of small, shared and large plates. I had the BBQ Chicken breast, with barley, potato and leek sauce, pickled mushrooms and crisp vine leaf. This tasted superb and was beautifully presented. Derwent Estate wines are generally outstanding, and it was an added bonus to have their top wines accessible by the glass at very reasonable prices. The atmosphere was very conducive to a late-year business lunch, the staff were right on top of their game and it all culminated in a really enjoyable, relaxing and unhasseled three-hour lunch. Would I come back? You betcha!!Visited December 2023Travelled on businessWritten 30 November 2023
- Katie F1 contributionDon't go to Hobart without going to Derwent EstateDerwent Estate was the first stop on our wine tour and set the bar impossibly high for the rest of the tour! Edie was welcoming, engaging and knowledgeable without being pretentious, so we felt really comfortable and had a few laughs as she guided us through the tasting. The grounds were absolutely stunning, and the food didn't disappoint (try the pate... it will change your life!!). Onto the wines... as a pretty dedicated pinot grigio drinker not only did I discover the BEST pinot gris I've ever tasted, we had our eyes opened to a number of other varietals that will be on the rotation from now on. Recommend the vintage sparkling, the 2021 resiling and pinot gris. By far the most charming cellar door and delicious wine we experienced on our trip to Tasmania.Visited September 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 24 September 2024

This was a really good wine tasting with a fantastic cheese platter. We got there at about noon and had a really well curated tasting from one of the best young wine people … hats off to you Georgia your passion knowledge and attention really made a difference to the tasting . End of the day we spent quite a lot and my wife was with me so it must have been good. Anyway super dooper ! Well worth a stop in .

Took some interstate colleagues here for lunch and they were so impressed, as were we. We had lunch at the new Shed restaurant, food was outstanding, serving sizes moderate but staff guided us so we chose wisely to fill the group. Wallaby was a highlight, as were the scallop starter in mandarin sauce. Desserts were so good my wife and I had one each then shared a second. We had the Derwent Estate Pinot noir, could not have paired better with our wallaby. Views are superb making for a great experience. Not cheap but one of the best fine dining meals I’ve had around Hobart in a while.
The staff were great and we dawdled over lunch with no sign of any attempt to rush us along.
Overall, top marks to the team and thanks for a lovely afternoon!

We enjoyed a full tasting of their wine selection. Fletch, our host, was very welcoming, attentive and knowledgeable.
The wines were quite good. It’s hard to find a winery where most of their offering are good but these guys get close. Getting up there in price for what it is, IMO but you be the judge.
We also ordered and very much enjoyed the charcuterie platter for two which was excellent.
Recommended.

We were greeted by the wonderful host, Sandy.m, seated and were soon starting a lovely wine flight accompanied by a tasty cheese platter. The wines were all delicious, approachable and well made. Even the Sauvignon Blanc, a wine we rarely drink, was sublime. We finished with 2 classic Tasmanian Pinot Noirs and then some dessert Rieslings. All in all, highly recommended.

What a beautiful Cellar Door. Josh was fantastic at explaining about the wines. There was not one wine that we didn't like. We are Chardonnay fenatics and there Chardonnay did not dissapoint. Please support these smaller wineries. A great experience. Thank you Josh. And please pass on to everyone involved, from viticultualists to winemakers. Exceptional job.

I had lunch at 'The Shed" restaurant a week ago with a group of friends. The food was quite disappointing with such a trendy menu. Most of the dishes did not appeal so I decided to have the baked pumpkin with cauliflower jus. I wouldn't recommend this dish as there was too much pumpkin and little else, but I must add the savignon blanc was very nice. I enjoy eating out quite regularly at different restaurants and always find something appealing on the menu.
Also for some unknown reason the gardener decided to cut the large area of lawn right outside the open door/windows which made conversation very difficult.

Only 20 minutes north of Hobart, this is a delightful small winery. The lovely and knowledgeable Josh took us through the tasting and explained the details of each of their wines. We sat outside the old cottage and looked across the marshes while having the tasting.
We didn't have any food here, though it is available. We ended up buying a few bottles of their award-winning wines. Highly recommended!

I came here with a tour group. I hated my food. $40 for a piece of undercooked fish and some sauce. I was starving. I eat out a lot, both fine dining and pub grub etc and know my food and it was awful. Wine was terrible too. Don’t waste your time and money, I enjoyed my maccas afterwards which is better than what they serve here.
