My husband and I are traveling arround the world. We decided to take longer vacations on Philippines, more precise on Palawan, since is the most touristic island.
What a mistake. Beside warm weather, there is nothing. Only a few sand beaches, no chairs, no restaurants, no shade, no shower...
Beaches near Puerto princesa don't deserve name beach.
Don't know what to do here. Not even a decent restaurant.

If available, take jamalia ferry to and from el nido. It’s a brand new ship. Coron town is much friendlier and laid back than el nido. No drunks or party animals. The locals are much friendlier too. There’s no beach/swimming in Coron town. It’s all a port. Must take a ferry to a beach. We did 2 days of island hopping. Nice but not spectacular. Lots of boats crowded in islands and bays. Beautiful islands. Very disappointed in coral conditions. It’s all bleached and dead and very sparse. Very few fish. For a tourist limited to time and destinations; much better in the visayas.

The stairs is a climb to reach to get those famous shot for the gram. Beware, get your leg day on. However, it is worth it. The lagoon is soooo beautiful and breathtaking. I will mos def come back here.

A lot of references say that there are no ATMs in Palawan except for Puerto Princesa, but would just like to say that there are a couple in Coron... We used our UK Visa Debit card in the BPI Bank and were able to withdraw 10000Pesos out no problems!!

You are on vacation, so you of course can be excused for being lazy. That said, if you wish to have a little energetic adventure, hire a two person kayak and set out from Coron City across the bay to Coron Island. This adventure took a friend and I a full day, setting out at 9am, we were back in Coron Town around 5pm. It was quite the adventure, and something I will do again when I go back to Coron.
What you need: A companion, a kayak, pesos, suntan lotion, hat, light long sleeve shirt, snorkeling gear, water shoes, water, snacks, and a sense of adventure.
Where to go: Once you rent a kayak, Sea Dive Resort has some, paddle east of the town past the ferry dock, hugging the coastline til you come close to two little islands that lie between Busuanga Island and Coron Island. Cut directly south across the channel to the NW side of Coron Island.
Then hug the shore line of Coron Island and slowly work your way South-West down the NW side of the island to visit: Kayangan Lake, Barracuda Lake, Twin Lagoon, Banol Beach and Skeleton Wreck in that order. You can of course stop anywhere else along the way to explore hidden coves and snorkel on silent reefs away from the crowds.
Depending on how you feel you can either Kayak back from Banol Beach, 5.5 km back to Coron Town, which should take less than an hour, or bargain with a trimaran owner and hitch a ride back.
Do protect yourself from the sun.... my friend and I got burnt even though we covered up and used suntan lotion all day.

Coron blew me away. I certainly wasn't expecting it to be as beautiful as it was and relatively untouched by tourism. This was our first stop on our private ling boat tour and it set the tone for a fantastic day at sea!

I am solo Traveller, I planned this Trip for almost 6months. I stayed in Joval Homestay. I booked a private Tour Guide to Kuya Joel Francisco because he was referred to me by a friend of friend of mine. The private Tour with Kuya Joel was kinda expensive for solo guest but if you booked to him by group it is more cheaper. The advantage of having a private Tour guide was you can choose any food you want for lunch and for snacks also. You Rent the boat, so you can decide how long you will stay in one area unlike with Joiner Tours (means you avail the offered Tour of travel agencies around in Coron), Joiners stayed in one area like short period because the trip was scheduled from 8am-3pm. Whereas for Exclusive Tour, the Tour may start before 7am and finished around 5pm.

Did a trip to Coron on Dec 2-5 and we were not disappointed. The trees were destroyed by the typhoon Yolanda so you will not see too much greenery. Houses were destroyed too. But the tourism industry is still alive and kicking.
Stayed at Darayonan Lodge, simple, basic amenities. The people at Darayonan were very friendly and helpful. They have a swimming pool which is great to use after a day's trip. Their food is also tasty. You get free breakfast everyday with your stay which you can also eat for dinner if you were not able to eat breakfast. Their rate is affordable, paid 11K in pesos for those 3 days for 5 people, 1 room sharing. You don't really need an expensive place to stay because you will be out the whole day anyway. They will also pick you up to and from the airport.
You dont need to book your tours with Darayonan if you decide to. Go to Calamianes Expeditions, website corongaleri.com.ph, owners Al and Mae are very down to earth. You can book with them when you arrive. Just ask the tricycle driver to bring you to their place. Then you can choose the tours you like. Their tour guide are very kind and helpful. Ask for Allan and Christian who did our island tours and Ricky and Richard who did our Calauit tours. I recommend their most popular tour which is P500/person. You can also choose the Calauit tours, about P2,600/person, we did the sea way to Calauit, 4 hours by boat! So if you get sea sick, just bring plastics or drink anti-dizziness meds. These trips include food.
Day 1-We did the town tour on our own. I don't think you need a tour guide for the Coron town as long as you know where you want to go.You can go to Mt Tapyas, just be prepared to climb 724 steps each way. Climb about 4 pm so you can catch the sunset and get a great view of Coron. Don't go at night time or you won't be able to enjoy the view.
After Mt Tapyas, go to Maquinit Springs. I think entrance fee at Maquinit is P150/person with tricycle about P350 for 5 people and the driver will willingly wait for you while you enjoy the hot spring. Go to Maquinit at night time because the water is hot and you will not want to be hotter during the daytime.
There are no fast food places there. Your best place to eat is your hotel or the Coron Kawayanan Grill. Just ask the tricycle driver to bring you there. They have meals A to D for about P1,350 enough for 5 people, unlimited rice.
D2- Island hopping under The Calamianes Expeditions. We did the most popular tour. CYC, hidden corals, bulungan sland etc. Kayangan lake is the best! You will feel like you are in a magical place.
D3- Calauit Island tour, you will be picked up at 4 am for this. This is an adventure I recommend you do. Just feeding the giraffes will amaze you! Mang Florante, was our guide. He was funny and really knowledgeable bec he has been doing it for 28 yrs. After the Calauit tour, you will do island hopping again (if you do the sea way).
I suggest to bring your own snorkel but Calamianes expeditions do have new snorkels so it is ok to rent also for P100/snorkel. Make sure you wear swimming sandals too to protect your feet.
Wifi is difficult so don't expect wifi all the time. Elderly/older people who have difficulty walking may not enjoy Coron. Kids might enjoy Coron too. Tricycle is the main transportation but you can survive by walking too.
The people of Coron are very quiet, serene may be the perfect term. They are very hospitable.
This trip to Coron is priceless!

As we were debating what company to use for our private boat tour in Coron we came across a post of a lady recommending the services of Argi and his wife Cristene Quitoriano +63 (0) 912 393 2294
They are very easy to get through via WhatsApp or simply by calling their number. We were not disappointed! We met Argi the day before our tour right behind the Coron Gateway Hotel in the Old Market. He explained how the tour was going to be conducted and coordinated with us the time and place to meet. He gave us the options of places to visit, and helped us decide which and in what order, so as to escape the big crowds. What a blessing that was! Next morning right on time at 8 AM his wife Cristene was awaiting us. We told her the places we wanted to visit and she escorted us to the market where we bought whatever we wanted to eat (Fish, prawns, rice, vegetables, seasonings, etc) during the day. Shortly after we returned to the meeting point where we rented our snorkeling gear and aqua shoes. We had a fantastic day visiting the Coral Garden which was magnificent. Lots of fishes and amazing corals. After an hour snorkeling we proceeded to Banol beach, which was empty when we got there. While we enjoyed the beach they cooked our lunch and what a beautiful presentation they did! After we were done we proceeded to Twin Lagoon. Loved the time there. Then off to Barracuda Lake where we only took pictures as we wanted to spend more time on the last stop: Kayangan Lake, The one that provides the iconic view of Coron from the viewpoint in the hill.
We highly recommend their services. It is a good value for your money and they are both very professional.

Definitely the experience of a life time! Camping on uninhabited islands, fishing, endless opportunities to go snorkelling... Finding Nemo, you name it, this expedition has got it!
Explored many islands around El Nido, truly a unique experience I can't praise enough. Don is a great host and very passionate about what he does.
I really hope to visit again in the future...

There are many companies in town that are generally the same price.
I was there in Jan 2018 for a standup paddle tour for 4 days and we went to all the visitors stops. We took a boat to a point and then paddled between islands. The boat also prepped our lunch. We would also snorkel when we saw something interesting or if we were too hot.
The company I used was Central SUP tours and I had a blast

there are a lot of tour guides in coron that can help you regarding your question about kayaks. I personally did not try that. I apologize. I'm not actually sure if they will allow kayak in some areas because some of it are good for snorkeling only.
