8 years ago when I first came here there were no facilities nor a charge to enter. Boats were banned from the beach and had to anchor on the back side then youd walk 5 miutes across the island. Now it is 250Piso per person. They've added a toilet and about a dozen shade tents with tables and chairs plus a snack bar. While most bancas still had to anchor on back side, there were at least 6 small ones tied up on the beach ruining the visuals. A speedboat came ashore right in the middle too in a flagrant violation of the rules. Stayed parked on the sand for over an hour. Way too crowded now, not Boracay crowded (read:ruined) but over 100 people on the beach midday. Most on group tours so if you time it for when they leave (today about 12 noon) not too crowded. But the sand and water are still among the very best in the entire Archipelago. It's magic.

Out of the three places we visited during our Tour C Beach Escapade, this is my most favourite! I bought banana fritters at the store on the island to feed the fishes. There were varieties of species you can see and an hour wasn't even enough for me to do so. I would have loved to bask under the sun if only I had more time (better to book a private tour). You need to pay 100php for the boatmen to take you to the open sanctuary and corals (you also have the option to swim on your own, which I did) but when they left to see the corals, they were nice enough to allow me to hold on to the boat which was soooo cool!

This island, along with Bulog Dos and Banana Island are part of a package offered by local tours in Coron because they are located so close to one another. Malcapuya Island is apparently the best of these three, and any of these four is a good stop to break up the trip into smaller parts. It has a long stretch beach, very unique rock formations and the island has soft white sands.
