A really interesting introduction to many aspects of South Uist. Staff very friendly and the cafe next door does great soup and cakes. Excellent wee gift shop - especially for books about the local area. When we were there they were still getting set up for the season so it will get even better.

Small attraction - Cafe, Museum & Tourist Tat shop. Visited more for the cafe than the side event of museum. Decent coffee and cake. A place to shelter from the elements. WiFi is amazingly poor at £1hr for 0.25Mb down & 0.1Mb up with 1s ping! It kind of sums up the nature of the place, having to charge for... More

Great museum, welcomed by friendly and helpful staff. The exhibition has something for everyone, kids enjoyed it too! Fantastic photos of Uist life. Handy cafe next to museum serving reasonable food and drinks.

You must stop at this Museum/cafe/craft shop. Museum is facing ting especially the extensive achieves that that been collected on a very wide range of subjects on the life in the Hebrides. Well worth the time to visit, in fact one of the best museums I have visited across the world. Cafe sells home made goodies and the craft shop... More

Stopped here for a hot snack which was excellent and in good surroundings. We didn't go in the museum because of lack of time but we did enjoy the gift shops.Excellent place for a touring break

We visited the shop and cafe but not the museum itself. The shop sells a good range of local arts and craft items. We ordered teas which came in reasonable time, and tasted okay. The food looked unappetising and tired - maybe because it was lateish in the afternoon. But my main comment relates to the atmosphere. It felt soulless... More

Stopped for coffee, and was ejected abruptly to the exterior tables with the dog (despite no 'no dogs' sign evident) It would be nice like some cafes do, to have a corner table that can be used by dog owners with well behaved dogs, in bad weather please? The museum was indiscreet and could have been passed by, but what... More

I've been several times and always loved the cafe, this time at 16:16 they stopped serving hot food and I'd wanted a soup. The person in the queue two in front had been able to order but not me :( It's best to go when it is quiet and get more time with the knowledgeable staff
