If you're expecting ruins of a castle you'll be disappointed! It's obviously been a mansion and is right beside a working farm. Still as I'm from near Sheriffmuir, where the owner died during the battle there in 1715, it was a must see for me.

Take time to read the History of Ormiclete and all will become apparent. The location and structure were not chosen at random but had a solid purpose.

There's not much to the castle, and it's right next to a modern farming operation that uses the other buildings for storage. However, the guy I talked to there helped point me to their gate across the field to the machair and the beach, where I idled for some time on a sunny afternoon.

It's the ruins of a mansion house, and looks like a part-ruined farm steading. You can see all you need to by driving past slowly.
