Batman Bridge is still a majestic structure and absolutely well worth visiting for the great views as well as the attraction of the surrounding countryside - tamar valley, beauty point, hillwood berry farm, etc, etc. However, it is now 50 years old and I suspect...More

We dropped in to the bridge on our way to Beaconsfield, it was worth the 5 minutes drive to the bridge to check it out. There is a rest area with toilets at the bridge.

The bridge is conveniently located across the Tamar River, facilitating a crossing without needing to drive all the way to Launceston.

This an impressive cable stayed bridge and the first in Australia. It was built in 1966-1968 and was named after John Batman the founder of Melbourne. There is a park beneath the bridge that gives good views and shows its size.

This bridge has always fascinated me. This A-framed tower bridge was the first cable-stayed bridge built in Australia. Regardless of which side you approach from the initial sighting prepares you for something special, well at least if engineering structures interest you. More practicality there is...More

We stopped to take a look at this bridge whilst driving in the area. You can park and view it from beneath. We were headed to Rosevears and Brady's Lookout, it is best viewed side on from further up or down stream.
