This place is interesting and the guide was great!
Only I would like to bring your attention to gem stone store! We were fooled by a British guy who is clearly working in hand with a store owner. He pretended to be an expert and buying things from there as well. They are faking clarity of stones and everything else! So please be aware and don’t buy anything from there!

You must have heard about the famous Baltit Fort in Hunza, which is over 700 years old. It was home to the royal family of Hunza for centuries.
Founded in the 8th CE, it has been on the UNESCO World Heritage Tentative list since 2004.

It is not easy to get to Karimabad in the Hunza Valley, North of Gilgit but the road is definetly worthe the hassle and the karakorum highway is maybe the most beautiful road I have ever seen.
The Baltit Fort itself is worth the visit but what I enjoyed most was hikking up from the Baltit Fort to the Mountains.
It is amazing and the sheppards all around were more than welcoming.

We visited Hunza Valley in September 2015 and stay for 3 days in Karimabad, Hunza. On the 2nd day of our stay, in the evening, our schedule includes a tour of “Baltit Fort”. Baltit is a 700-year-old fort and belongs to Mir of Hunza and is counted as World Heritage by UNESCO. Fort is situated at the tip of a cliff and one need to climb up to the emplacement. The walkway to the fort was amazing itself, on the way we were greeted by the residents of ‘Baltit’ who were sitting alongside the street holding their daily tea and discussion. Many stores and houses exist on both sides of the route with people engaged in their everyday chores. Enjoying the walk we reached the Baltit Fort, we enter the Fort by paying a nominal fee, the well-trained and knowledgeable team of guides give us a well-planned tour of the facility. Built with bricks, mud and wood painted in red, the fort is also a museum that holds items belonging to the Mir of Hunza. The bird’s eye view of Hunza Valley and the spectacular view of Rakaposhi Peak can be observed in front of the Fort and the Lady Finger and Ultar Sar peak at the back. After having a circuit of the fort we started settling down toward the main Karimabad.

this is a 700 year old fort , and is well kept and maintained. It gives you an idea of the rulers of the valley, the lives of the rulers and rooms and around the the fort.

there is a guided tour of the fort, and the guide is well versed and informed, taking you to various rooms , bed rooms , dinning , kitchen and war rooms.

It has a special view from the balcony.

Baltit Fort is a must visit attraction of Hunza, Karimabad. The Fort was built by the ancient ruler of Hunza and offers brilliant views over the Hunza valley. It is situated up the hill and takes about 15-20 minutes walk uphill depending on your stamina. The entry ticket for the locals was 400 rupees and it is used for the maintenance of this beautiful Fort. The cost includes a guided trip of the Fort and the guides are really knowledgeable about the history. We had a wonderful trip and the guide was very kind enough to take us inside of the Fort and show inner rooms, kitchen and other wonderful architecture. We were all at praise for this beautiful attraction. Take a walk through the Hunza history with some breathtaking views of the valley.

The Baltit fort was built by and served as the residence of the kings of Hunza. It is around 700 years old and is perched atop the town, against a massive glacier behind it. The view from the city is stunning. The architectural style is quite unique and interesting. It is a steep 15 minutes climb through karimabad to get to it.

The guided tour is some 20 minutes and useful. From the fort you can take stunning pictures of the Hunza valley. Enjoy it!
