Great fun and very interesting. A fast rib boat with saddle and bench seats. Wildwatch say they are marine biologists and do research into cetaceans and other species off the Algarve. They were certainly knowledgeable. The first half of the trip visited the caves and rock formations along the coast from Ferragudo to Benagil Cave, followed by a very fast ride out to sea beyond sight of land to find whales and/or dolphins. The caves are diverse and interesting, but rather overcrowded with trip board and kayakers. The open sea ride was exhilarating and Wildwatch went the extra mile (literally!) until they spotted a family of bottlenose dolphins. We had plenty of time to observe them while they observed us. Then it was another fantastic high speed run back to harbour, followed by tea/coffee and biscuits and a very interesting talk by one of the team about the sea life of the area and they threats it’s facing. A really friendly crew, full of deep knowledge. I’ve marked them down to 4 stars because when we found the dolphins, one of the crew filmed them underwater as they passed under the boat, but spent most of his time talking to passengers at the front of the craft, with his camera off. When we got the video they send you, it had almost no pictures of the dolphins surfacing and we had not taken many photos on the assumption that we would get high quality video. Otherwise it was a great experience, and one that makes you think twice about eating locally caught fish. Take a coat, though. There was a heatwave inland, but not out on the Atlantic!

We loved this experience. The cave exploration was interesting and our guide was well informed. We then headed out to sea to search for wildlife. We all started to get a bit worried as we headed further and further out without any sightings but the guides were determined to let us see something and stayed out longer until we came across a family of bottle nosed dolphins. The refreshments and information back at base were also very enjoyable.

Unbelievably good! Must do! Real experts and so friendly. Did the wildlife explorer tour. After the tour you get a short debrief and more information on the animals seen, you will even get underwater footage of your trip later via email. Highly recommend.

Fantastic experience. The staff are knowledgeable and enthusiastic and the boat ride was great fun. We saw a minke whale and a lone bottle nose dolphin. Not a huge number of sightings but truly magical all the same. We loved it so much we booked again for the following morning!

Amazing wildlife explorer trip - saw harbour porpoise, common dolphin, minke whale, sun fish and even the fins of what we think was a blue shark. Our guides were knowledgeable, professional and friendly. Highly, highly recommend!

Such a great experience we did the dolphins and the caves trip where we went out to find dolphins and then a trip into the main caves. Very informative and love that you get sent a video of the dolphins we saw. I would definitely recommend this trip.

Sensational, Amazing trip to the caves, along the coast and in search of dolphins.
The best of two wonders ☺️
A very nice and competent crew who really care about
about preserving the habitat of these marine animals.
We saw a lot of the beautiful coast and two large family of dolphins.
Just sailing on the very stable rib boat is a great fun experience across the
ocean
The debriefing was also great!
Thanks to Wildwatch Algarve for a very great day.
All happy faces!!!

Best Dolphins tour in Algarve. We've tested many and Wildwatch is the only one to provide such a good experience. On the boat, they are amazing, they always search for a good spot and explain lots of specifics about dolphins. Back to the shore, they offer a coffee/tea and cookies and take the time, with maps and videos, to show us and explain us many details about marine life in the Algarve. Wildwatch is not "just a dolphins tour", it's much more!

Our trip with the team of Wildwatch Algarve was one of the best experiences we ever made. We did the 3h trip and could observe many dolphins of different species, very close to the boat. The information and the explanations we got during and after the trip were really interesting.
The whole team was very friendly and nice!
It was simply perfect and so impressive!
Thanks a lot/ Obrigado to the whole team!

You are far away from the caves when you do the dolphin trip. They do not swim near the coast, at least not when we were there in August. In Lagos you can just step on a little fisherman boat without prebooling. Very touristic but it was a great trip and we saw lots of caves.
Hello. What is the price for 2 adults and 2 children (4&8) please? What days do you go and how long are the trips? Is the boat covered at all? Many thanks Bryony

Hi , Think it was something like €40 pp but excellent value for the experience . The day we were out think it was something like 8 nautical mile off so both for health and safety and more importantly the Dolphins welfare can’t imagine they will let you out if the rib. Even on our trip while of course we all wanted to see Dolphins the crew ensured we stayed a courteous distance as not to upset or interfere with them and that in its self is what makes it special.
