About
The Hoxton Special is Cornwall's premiere spot for water sport and adventure activity enthusiasts. We are based at Marazion beach near St Michaels Mount. We offer Kite surfing lessons, power kiting, and kiteboarding. We also offer SUP, Paddleboard and Kayak Hire as well as Yoga sessions. On top of that we have a super cool little cafe where you can hang out and enjoy chilled vibe with a beautifully made coffee and cream teas. So pop on down to Marazion beach and check us out.

Had a kite surfing lesson with Angus.
I have had a lesson previously, so had a small knowledge of what I was doing.
Angus explained things clearly so I understood his instructions.
Time went far to quickly. Was just getting feet into board when time ran out.
Maybe next time, and I won't leave it so long between lessons!

My husband and two teenage children enjoyed a paddle boarding lesson with Angus. They had a great time! Angus, the instructor, was very patient with them all (they were complete beginners) and by the end of the lesson they were all able to stand up and paddle. I enjoyed some delicious coffee from their cafe whilst watching them from the shore. :-)

Our family (with 8 and 9 year old kids) rented four kayaks for an hour. Angus looked after us so well - overcoming some minor logistically issues with ease. He gave us a solid briefing at the start and then kept an eye on us - coming into the water to give us a rope when it became clear that one of our party was finding it difficult to get out so needed a little tow and giving us a hand dragging everything back up at the end.

Our holidays were totally ruined with the Kitesurfing Class Experience with this company. My partner and I came to Cornwall especially for kitesurfing, we phoned before going, asking questions, said that we are beginners, booked classes for 3 days at certain time. Also we booked a hotel near the place where lessons were supposed to be. First day started with changing the place and time several times. When we met 3 hours later than our booked time the instructor was really surprised that we are beginners. I share my negative encounter to ensure others are aware of the instructor's unprofessionalism with beginners, he lacked basic interpersonal skills and a genuine passion for teaching. In one hour also the weather turned into horrible hail and wind and I was absolutely freezing, I couldn’t move and asked to finish the lesson for today. The instructor was disappointed with such a ‘beginners behaviour’, started to blame me for being cold and for waiting his time. He underlined several times that he lost his money and wasted his time for us. After all his blaming speeches he ‘kindly’ offered us to give the half of a lesson later or to give us a voucher for something else. Cut a long story short next 2 days we received a lot of texts with promises of a lesson which never happened. And the voucher didn’t happen as well. Once again, we came to Cornwall especially for kitesurfing and booked 3 days, not half a session.
In summary, my experience with this kitesurfing company was deeply disappointing. The instructor's behaviour was unprofessional, with a lack of patience, respect, and basic teaching skills. Their belittling remarks, disorganisation created a hostile learning environment that left me feeling utterly discouraged. I strongly advise potential clients to explore alternative options with reputable instructors who prioritise professionalism and provide a positive and enriching learning experience.

none of us had paddle boarded before (3 adults and 11yr old)
It was fantastic !!! - we were given instructions of how to use the board, how to use the paddle , he ensured our life jackets were on correctly - and what a laugh it was to get into the wet suits in the first place !!- we all had a fantastic time - the weather was gorgeous - I would thoroughly recommend The Hoxton Special for anyone wanting to try this activity - I will say that I am a 63yr old woman - I walk the dog but I don't go the gym - and I was a little sore as I had used muscles I forgot I had !! - but I would love to do it again !! - hopefully if I return next year in the summer !!! BRILLIANT xx

This is a fantastic little place, lovely vibe and views of St Michael’s Mount, a simply awesome toastie, nice coffee and Otis Redding to boot. What more could you ask for?!

My husband and I (both 60+) had a private paddleboarding lesson with Angus which was both an enjoyable and fun experience. Angus was an informative teacher, giving us clear, no pressure, instruction. He provided us with quality equipment and ensured we were safe at all times. We have never done anything like this before but would encourage anyone considering it to give it a go with this company. Highly recommended.

What time do kite surfing lesson start? Just want a general time as I am would like to take a walk along the coastal path on my day in St Ives as well as kite surfing.

Lessons are totally wind dependant so could run at any time, generally speaking they will start or finish two hours either side of high tide. :)
