Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The open air school tradition is still continuing. Classes are held in the shade of trees. Patha Bhavana is right in the heart of Visva Bharati campus. Unfortunately, visitors are not permitted inside the campus when classes are in progress. You can visit after hours or on holidays. Wednesdays are weekly holidays in Santiniketan. Patha Bhavana is Visva Bharati's school dept.

Secondary school named by Tagore as Patha Bhavan. Indira Gandhi was one of the students of Patha Bhavan where she studied till 5th std. It is said that she had breached the hostel norms and was rusticated by the Principal in 5th std. Don't know the truth of the saying though. Her room is still in use by hostel residents. It is in front of Gaur prangan, singha sadan and ghanta tola.

The Great Poet and Nobel Laureate Rabindra Nath Tagore founded this great school in 1901. This has been an extraordinary institution that handled the education of youngsters from a very different angle. It allowed the young children to blossom according to their interest, knack & abilities - resulting in blossoming of their capabilities so that they could become more successful in life. The focus at Patha Bhavan has been to bring out the students as complete human beings, as much as possible.

You are bound to fall in love with this school.. student teacher ratio is 1:20,the uniform is yellow kurta n pajama and for 7 months the classes are held under the trees..what else can you ask for.The school is under the Vishwabharathi University and the late Prime Minister was also once upon a time a student of this school (she was rusticated too for disobeying the rules of the hostel)

This is the al-fresco school started by Tagore. 'Patha' - means to study and 'Bhavan' means house. Although it says house, the students would study in the open air, as Tagore believed that that fostered learning and growth.
This place has historic relevance.

This open air teaching was pioneered by Rabindranath Tagore in his Biswabharati University. History says it all started with one concrete circle around a chhatim tree and later was expanded to more circles. Felt good to visualise how it would have been back in those days. A must in shantiniketan.

The Play way method of education was started by Rabindranath Tagore. The Patha Bhavan is basically the primary and the secondary school section of the Visva Bharati University. Classes are mainly held under the trees and the students enjoy the experience based learning sitting in the midst of nature!!

In our school days we learnt that the Viswabharati students were to "class' not sitting on Desk in class rooms ,but under trees. We the captive students used to envy such "freedom" . Now when we visited the place and saw the arrangement and was convinced that the intention of parting education was prime than constructing huge buildings with rooms full of furniture and fittings at exorbitant cost .The teachers were to sit on raised block of stone or pillars and the students around in half circle on cement blocks . The area was vast with tall trees of many varieties. As such there were many such areas under the sky surrounded by big trees for shadow.
