The Katogi Averoff winery is in Metsovo, a mountain village built some 1100 metres above sea-level. The oldest parts of the winery date back to 1973, when work began on a new building required to cover the company's ever-increasing production needs. Its cellars can boast over 1200 oak barrels in which our red wines mature, while the winery shop offers rare and collectible bottles of wine for sale from its 1974 vintage on. A guided tour of the winery employs a range of audio-visual media to offer the visitor an original introduction to wine production and the history of the winery, and is rounded off with tastings of a selection of Katogi Averoff wines.

Well worth a visit. 9 euros for the wine tasting and it has been beautifully modernised to mix the old and new together. Highest altitude grape growing in Greece

A visit to the vinery is highly recommended. There is a free 15 minute tour and a variety of high quality wines to pick from. Wine tasting needs an appointment first so maybe we do it the other time .

Very nice place, well maintained. Excellent tour with friendly and knowledgeable guides Big variety of very good wines. Fresh and preserved. From 1000m altitude vineyards. (Unique worldwide). Vineyards manually operated in harmony with the area's Wilde life. You can buy good wine in good prices (value for money)

Metsovo has the highest altitude vineyards in Europe. It is worth tasting the wine and listen to the remarkable story of a man motivated to change the future of this mountainous village by bringing grapes from Bordeaux back in 1950s. But do not expect the standards of Tuscany.

Great activity to do even if you are not a wine lover! You will have a change to learn about the history of the region! The winery is lovely and the wines not to be missed! Some of them are only sold at the winery so it is a great opportunity to have something Special from this Special place!
