A brilliant tribute to the history of our lifeboats and the RNLI. Even better now that the boat has been restored. Well worth a visit whether you are local to Redcar or visiting. The volunteers who help there have such a wealth of knowledge about the history. I would urge any locals who haven’t been there to visit it and support the museum and the RNLI

Thanks Gordon. Just to clarify we are no longer associated with the RNLI, therefore, any money we receive go to the running of the museum and any future conservation of the Zetland.

We recently stayed in Redcar for our holiday and stumbled across the Lifeboat museum. We were welcomed in immediately by incredibly friendly volunteers, and our two children offered sheets to complete as we went around. It's a small museum with the Zetland taking pride of place on the ground floor, and once little touches like hats for the children to try on. There is another room upstairs with more about the Zetland and the area in general but as far as I'm aware this is not accessible to anyone with mobility issues, although the staff were very happy to watch my sons wheelchair when we carried him upstairs. Free admission - really can't complain.
