Cultural Exchange & Volunteering, Women's Workplace, Shelter for Care...

Cultural Exchange & Volunteering, Women's Workplace, Shelter for Care and Informal Education, Woman Empowerment shop, Restaurant & Homestay run by the Mountain people.Kajsiab is a local Lao-Hmong community initiative, located northern Laos, Bokeo Province aiming to empower the local economy and improve the well being of the Lao mountain people in a meaningful way. Be aware that this place is not a fairytale, it is a tough place where people are learning to become self sustainable and overcome their past trauma. Children get personal care and education in the local way, which is not a travellers way. Open your mind and realize that you will see a screenshot of some people who have a whole lifetime of moments to learn and heal. What you see here is not only a result of our work, it is most of all the process during our work.Your being here helps the people to be proud of their work and helps the project to become fully self sustainable and independent of rules and funding abroad.

What a wonderful project with such loving and giving people! This is definitely a project worth supporting! The people: We were very impressed and touched by the two founders of this project (Lara and Nzoua), the woman running the restaurant and homestay (Jong - Nzoua's sister) and her husband (Bunchaan). As far as we can tell, they are one of... More

This was a pretty nice place. The idea behind it is very noble. It's a home for single mothers. They provide accomodation, a restaurant and a oppurtunity volunteer. My dad and I went here two days in a row and taught the women and children english. It was truly rewarding.

Was really looking forward to a community homestay, where i thought we would get welcomed in, invited to eat with the community and possibly assist with something if we could. This was not the case. Once we found the place we were literally shown to our bungalow. The accommodation was basic ,as expected, but would have wanted a bit more... More

We had a very nice time in the restaurant (we did not stay there) . End of the afternoon sunset, sky changing colors... beautiful. The women working at the restaurant we nice and friendly, and served us a great pizza made in their clay oven and a delicious fish. We do recommend the place

Project Kajsiab is a small grassroots project and you can feel the familiar atmosphere the moment you enter the place. The people in charge, Zjong and Boonchan, make you feel very at home. If you go to Huay Xai it's worth paying a little visit. You can eat there, have a drink, go and have a look at the woman's... More

The Homestay and Restaurant generate much-needed funds for this small grassroots structure, which helps Hmong village women to overcome their problems and provides a shelter for them and their children either on a long-term basis or short-term. Wonderful work.

I didn't stay at Daauw Home as they were all booked out, but I came for dinner both nights I was in Huay Xai. The food was great, especially the woodfire pizza and the family meal (where you eat with the family and get to try some local Lao food). The place had a great atmosphere, and was the perfect... After reading the reviews we were excited to stay at the Daauwe Home. It's an authentic homestay -- no frills -- but a warm sense of community. PROs: - Great charity mission - Authentic feeling (lots of local folks and cute kids running around) - Cool vibe around the fireplace - Grilled fish dinner was delicious and inexpensive CONs -... A great human experience with Laotian people from the montain. A wonderful dutch women and her lao husband have founded this place to welcome mothers, most of them divorced, with their children. A great place to help them and live with them for a period in Laos
