Small and interesting museum with excellent exhibits. The sweets and carob products were lovely to taste. Found these sugar free products in a health food shop on our return to UK. The village was beautiful and the drive to the museum was beautiful.

We happened across this place on the way to Mt. Olympus. We really enjoyed our personal tour of the museum - the owner was friendly and a lovely lady. Great place to visit.

Very interesting explanation of the carob tree, it's bean like fruits and how the pods can be turned into a healthy sweetener as an alternative to sugar. The best bit was the "toffee making" demo.

About 25 minutes drive from Limassol and 7km north of Avdimou brings you to the small, quaint, picturesque village of Anogyra, which is about 800 metres above sea level. The most interesting thing here is the Mavros Chrysos ( Black Gold) Carob Museum. The museum...More

This was a great little museum, so glad we visited. The museum and modern (EU regulated) carob factory are run by two sisters whose parents and grandparents were all involved in growing, harvesting and processing the carob crop over the years. The lady who took...More

Pleasant lady gives an explanation and tasting. Definitely unique to Cyprus. Make the trip. Avoid village of Malia - its dead!

Spent the morning in Anogyra, firstly at the local coffee house with 1 local and a lady whose English wasn't good (but still better than my Greek!) - excellent by the way and then to the Carob museum. Lady owner (presumably?), very knowledgeable, interesting facts,...More
