Although it was February meaning that not every Archabbey facility was open to visitors, i think it was worth it. Audio guide is a great help, information provided is interesting. The abbey, the library and the church should be a beaten track site.

We spent a few hours up here, with very few other tourists. Lovely place, lots of time to see everything, including a couple of close-by outlying chapels and such. A colorful bonus: a bicycle race ended in the parking lot, which, like the Archabbey itself,...More

If travelling from Vienna to Budapest it is worth detouring to see this abbey. It is on a very prominent hill with steep sides. We were there for the late afternoon light which made the imposing Abbey even better.

A friend from Budapest brought us here on the drive back from Vienna to Budapest. At the top of the hill is a beautiful old church and a library that contains ancient books. Plus the views of the area are terrific from the hill. You...More

We stopped at the abbey on our way to Györ. They have free parking for visitors which was nice since we arrived by car. The abbey, they say, is one of the largest in the world. However, only a limited number of the rooms is...More

It reminds me a bit like Assisi in Italy as it is located on a hill. The abbey is clean and the restrooms are very clean. The library is an extensive one, the gift shop has many herbal products like lavender, sage in soaps or...More

The church was closed for an event and the only other thing of interest was the library. Staff was very unhelpful. There is a wonderful restaurant at the entrance that I highly recommend. I think it is associated with the abbey.

This a a real piece of history. Plus interesting countryside, lots of places to visit. Also, good reataurants (csarda´s) in the neighbouring villages.

The Monastry sits atop a hill. Can be accessed buy car or walking paths. Although it is over restored (bad hungarian habit) still was a pleasant experience overall. The library is stunning with its interior and 400 000 books. The view is gorgeous and several...More

Difficult to score. As others have commentated, the buildings are rather over-restored and, despite the history, a little dull. However, it's surrounded by very attractive countryside and well worth a half day out from Gyor or a detour if you're in the area. There's a...More
