Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We went on a Saturday afternoon.
Very crowded but I was told it’s much worse on Sundays. Lots of young and older folks getting drunk. I imagine at night it would be fun for the 20’s set ( lots of bars/restaurants).

The main plaza has a church and a large Tequila sign to pose in front of. Lots of street vendors selling souvenirs and of course tequila.

The cobblestone streets are jam packed with cars and there isn’t much parking so keep that in mind. You cannot get Uber there either so my recommendations are: hire a driver to bring you there and wait for you, go with a tour group, or rent a car and drive yourself.

Driving to/from Tequila from Guadalajara you can see fields of sugar cane and when you get closer the blue agave fields are everywhere.... agave grows wild everywhere. Beautiful to see.
Now that I’ve been there it was fun to see once but I wouldn’t go back again. I’m not much of a drinker and it’s not really my scene.

Beautiful and very clean square, unfortunately it was all roped off because of COVID restrictions. People can come on their own and stay at the various hotels, but tours are not allowed until after 1/31/2021. There were still people out an about and the restaurants around the square were open, but all of the tasting rooms were closed. I can't wait to come back another time when the town is fully open!

PRO'S: I'm glad I visited Tequila, I've always been interested in seeing it. It's small and full of restaurants and shops. I enjoyed hearing about how tequila was made and it's history.
CON'S: It's very touristy

Lovely area, well preserved. Lots of small shops selling overpriced merchandise. Beware the beggars. Don't venture here alone. Great food on the corner next to Jose Cuervo.

It is a lovely little Mexican town filled with the joie de vivre you find in many places in Jalisco but just that little bit more. Everyone was extremely helpful and pleasant.
It truly is quite a pretty place to visit and wander around. As always don´t forget sunscreen and a hat if you like me are a pale imitation of the beautiful local people.
Did a tour and tried some local cocktails and food and honestly can say nothing was in any way less than perfect.

Central square with lots of carts serving Tequila ! Classic Mexican square with central bandstand surrounded by the church, historic buildings and bars. There was also a local craft market on the day we were there. A good place to stop for a drink to watch the wield go by.

It is true that is very touristic, but nowadays... there are very few places untouched by the crowds. Weekdays are lesser crowded.

Plenty of restaurants and tequila tasting options nearby. Great cathedral on the square daring back to 1649 and fabulous inside. Definitely try the street food and save a ton of pesos - everyone does and it is for sure safe and yummy. If it’s sunny but a sombrero for $5 or less!

It was a good experience but when we visited it was the town celebration and it was crowded and with a lot of street stands that blocked the beautiful sculptures. But walking through it was a good experience.
