Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.

This is the second time I have used Diani Tours and I have found them to be professional and responsive throughout the process. The accommodations and staff are outstanding and the food is quite good.

We had a very bad experience with this company. unfortunately, we had to cancel our reservation due to the cancellation of our flight. We have asked by emails many times Diani Tours & Safaris to reimburse our deposit. they never answered. It is a non professional and non customer focus attitude.

I don‘t know where to start… the Toyota Landcruiser was 32 years old, no airconditioning, no suspension… that in a country with terrible roads. The rest was just run down and plain old. We got stopped twice for not having the right stickers on the windowshield — the car was not legally on the road, our driver lost twice almost his license. We got charged USD 200/day… if you look through the internet you get new jeeps with drivers all-in for USD 140/day….
Most of the time we were driving from one park to the next park. Getting up before 7am in the morning just to drive all day — up to 10 hours — just to have a very short „safari drive“ in the evening.
In the „luxury“ hotels we were bitten by bed bugs, got diarriah … the food was not good.
We checked the choosen hotel later with booking.com on its pricing and noted that we paid double the price.
Long story short, we basically paid double the price… and on our credit card we found later a price that was even higher since they converted the kenian shilling wrong… another unfortunate concided? I highly doubt it.
The safari was supposed to include flying as well… well, we flew back with a standard airline to Ukunda, but a flight safari looks different.
After the „safari“ we wanted some of our money back, but the owner just played with us… we met, she send emails with the important stuff missing and so on.
In short: A fraud. hands off!

Dear Trip Advisor, Hope this mail finds you in good health. This is a kind request to you to please remove this review by Gustl_Chris dated 15th March 2021. We have explained to you bit by bit regarding this client’s complain and we can prove that he is lying from the word go. We are ready to send you any documents, Bank slips or even photos / Registration papers of the 4x4 Jeep he says is 32 yrs old, to make sure that you have all the evidence you need to please and kindly remove this review. Thank you in advance Rosemary Copy of the same to the client!!!! I don‘t know where to start… the Toyota Landcruiser was 32 years old, no air conditioning, no suspension… This is total lie. The jeep registration KBP 588 V is less than 10 yrs. Am sure you have you way of checking the Kenyan Number Plates and Registration and am sure you can verify that the Jeep is as good as new. We can send you photos of the Jeep outside and inside of it and even if you need the Logbook copy where you can verify that our Jeep is not what this client puts it. We have only had the jeep for five years and we can assure you that it is fully maintained. Another thing, the client was clearly briefed on the fact that safari Jeeps do NOT have Air conditioning and that it why we have Pop Up Roofs and we wonder why come again on Trip Advisor and write something like this. that in a country with terrible roads. This client clearly said that he has been in Kenya many times and for sure then he should know how Kenyan roads are and to be honest the Kenyan roads are not as he puts it. This is so wrong. The rest was just run down and plain old. We got stopped twice for not having the right stickers on the windowshield — the car was not legally on the road, our driver lost twice almost his license. One thing I would like to clarify here is that, the Kenya Government is so strict on the Licenses / Registration and the insurances of any vehicle transporting tourists and NO Vehicle can carry tourists without all licenses. Our driver can confirm to you that he was not stopped, there are road blocks along the whole highway and these are routine checks by traffic police on the Mombasa – Nairobi highway and this is still happening now because they want to make sure that all covid-19 measures are followed fully in the transport / tourism business. Normally when a clients book a safari, it is a package and we do not charge differently from Transport, Acommodation, Meals among others “We charge the safari as a package. Again this client was briefed so well in our office about the itinerary. Early morning game drives start early and he knew how the safari game drives work because in fact he said he has been in Kenya many times. We wonder why this client can write such things bearing in mind he had all the information about the safari and he bargained and we offered him a discount of 300 Euros. During all our conversations we dealt in Euros not USD and so we don’t know why the client is talking of Usd’s. In the „luxury“ hotels we were bitten by bed bugs, got diarriah … the food was not good. We checked the choosen hotel later with booking.com on its pricing and noted that we paid double the price. Again this is a Total Lie, In Tsavo East the client stayed at Ashnil Aruba Lodge, Ol Tukai Lodge in Tsavo West, Lion Hill Lodge in Lake Nakuru National Park and Sarova Mara Camp in Masai Mara. In Lake Nakuru National park and Masai Mara the clients chose the lodges themselves and for Tsavo East and Tsavo West we suggested the lodges for them. If you can honestly contact these lodges / Camps, they can confirm to you so well that these are 4* & 5* Lodges / Camps and saying that they were bitten by bedbugs it’s a total lie. The food in these lodges / Camps are the best and we are sure you as Trip Advisor have a way of contacting them to confirm the side of our story. This client is lying. Long story short, we basically paid double the price… and on our credit card we found later a price that was even higher since they converted the kenian shilling wrong… another unfortunate concided? I highly doubt it. Initially this same client accused us of double charging him and we told him that we can never double charge clients. We showed him the bank slip which indicated how much money was transferred and we clearly told him to follow up with his bank. We later asked him about the same issue and he said the issue was sorted. We are now again wondering how this client is bringing this same issue here on trip advisor just to spoil our name online. This is another lie. In case you might need the transaction slip to show you how much money this client paid we can send and also we can even send you contacts of the bank so that you can be sure that this client is lying. Normally we use xe.com to convert currencies and its a legit site. All this happened in our office and we wonder why he never said anything then as everything was open .. Check online for then days exchange rate, showed him and that was it. Why is he now complaining on the same. The safari was supposed to include flying as well… well, we flew back with a standard airline to Ukunda, but a flight safari looks different. This is outrageous, their safari included a flight from Nairobi to Ukunda and we booked for the Safari Link Airline. This is one of the best Local Airlines we have here in Kenya. This was not a flight safari, this was a transfer from Nairobi to Ukunda one way non stop. After the „safari“ we wanted some of our money back, but the owner just played with us… we met, she send emails with the important stuff missing and so on. In short: A fraud. hands off! When we offered him the suggested safari itinerary, he decided to change the lodges / camp in Masai Mara and Lake Nakuru National park and please note that these are expensive lodges as compared to the ones we had offered him before bargaining for a discount of 300 Euros, we still accepted and so when he came back requesting to be refunded, we couldn’t because he was even requesting what we didn’t have honestly. I wanted to book a safari in advance of our arrival in Diani to surprise my teenager. Zack at Diani Tours made it easy - friendly, informative, quick to respond to any questions. Everything went off perfectly. On the scheduled day, we found our driver, Papa Charlie, waiting at the hotel reception with a huge welcoming smile. Nothing can replace the look of joy on a child's face. One night at Voi and a second at the magical Sarova Salt Lick - perfection. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone.

This firm were excellent at organising trips and safaris, including a meet and greet at the airport.
Everything booked in the UK, and yet no payment asked for until arrival in Kenya.
Very helpful, and their email communication was excellent.
Would definitely use them again, and recommend them to others.

My sister and I enjoyed an absolutely fantastic two day safari to Tsavo East from Diani Beach. I was a little concerned when I went to pay the day before as was on my own and they couldn’t take payment at the hotel, and then they got someone random to drive me back - all made me feel a bit anxious as to what was to come - but for no reason.

Our driver Moses was super friendly, chatty and experienced. He repeatedly was able to find us experiences that we saw drivers in the distance miss, as he said he eats a lot of carrots! Finding ourselves less than six feet from some shade seeking lions was a huge highlight! He had lots of great stories and answered lots of our questions about life in Kenya generally, and even let us stop off and be introduced to his lovely sons on the way home (we were able to give them some Scottish sweets which was lovely after hearing so much about them).

The lodge we stayed in was the Aruba lodge, fantastic food, like others we had been promised tents and didn’t get but lodge was really lovely and we didn’t care in the slightest. Staff were really, really friendly too.

Overall one of those ‘My heart is full’ experiences. Do ask for Moses if you get the chance, and hope you have as amazing an experience as we did.

Diani Tour made our safari unforgettable. Zak was very available by email and WhatsApp, finetuning our request (lodges, type of car, priorities, ect.) and made the payment process very easy. 10% at the reservation, he has sent one of his representant at our hotel in Diani to collect 70% the day before the safari and giving us some useful information about our safari about to start and 20% were paid at the end of the safari after we were over-satisfied by everything.

The lodges offered (Aruba and Lions Bluff) were both different but amazing/breathtaking. The only hic-up was that I had requested for a tent in the luxury tented camp at Aruba ans they were going to give us a standard room until I told the lodge this was not what we requested. This might have been a miscommunication between Diani Tours and the lodge. I would recommend to double check and confirm the accommodation type by written if any special requests

All the rest was perfect, especially our driver, Sifa, he was very experienced and knowledgeable. He was very kind, listening to our requests (to stop for pictures or modify a bit the plan, timing, ect.), always with a smile. It was very enjoyable to be driven around by him for 3 days.

I would definitely deal with you guys again for any safari starting from Mombasa coast. Your prices were very fair for the quality of the service reveived.

Thank you!

Benjamin

Had a lovely safari to Shimba Hills.
Kenyan nature at its best, stunning views and an incredible walk to a waterfall.

Booked the trip while we where at our hotel in Diani, customer service answered really fast and helped us with all our questions. Excellent service!!

Our guide Steve (ask for him of you can) told us so much about the wildlife and even the Kenyan way of life. Just a really great guide, he made our trip educational and ejoyable.

Can and will recommend Diani Tours and Safaris to anyone!!

We had many problems with the transport: the boat engine stopped in the middle of the sea, then the van on our way back got two flat wheels.
The snorkelling experience was nice but too short, 30 minutes instead of the one hour announced.

We are really sorry for any inconveniences caused and it is so unfortunate that we were not informed of all this. The snorkeling may sometimes be shortened due to weather issues or the sea behavior but if this was not the case we will surely follow up with the wasini guys just to make sure that something like this does not happen to other clients in future.. From all of us here we are really sorry and we can say that this will be avoided in future. Thank you and Best Wisshes Zack and Rosemary

We did a custom 10 day tour via Diani Tours (Masai Mara, Nakuru, Amobseli, Tsavo). Everything was perfectly in order and we got everything we requested. Great hotels and great guide (good driver and great knowledge of the animals). We were a little worried about paying a part of the money upfront but we had no issue whatsoever.

We can definitely recommend this tour operator. We had a great holiday.
