- Kaan KuskonmazIstanbul, Türkiye284 contributionsSamos, GreeceIt was the best vacation spot I've ever been to in Greece. I was amazed by sea foods drinks and beaches located on the island. Three nights are enough to explore the whole island by a rental car.Visited June 2023Travelled with familyWritten 20 April 2024

Only thing I'd say the customs going from Turkey is appalling. We were on am excursion from kusadasi for the day and spent 6 hours in customs coming and going so we onlh had 4 hours thereVisited August 2024Travelled with familyWritten 4 August 2024
- waddesdon1964Waddesdon, United Kingdom1,995 contributionsOver night on SamosBeen here over night by boat before a few years ago so it was nice to return. This time we didn't hire a quad bike and tour the island as time was against us. Blue street is a must and the obligor try ice cream stop ( we actually did it both days. The birthplace of trigonometry and the mathematical genius. Plenty of shops to visit for those new clothes or essential speedos. Not much in the way of sandy beaches at Pythagorio where we stayed over night (however we have found some beautiful sandy beaches around the island on a previous trip) You have a beach called Paradise beach which has beds a small snack/drinks shack no sand just made of road stone. They have cleared an area to get in as it is very stony. Has a shower and beds. The other end of the resort better looking beach area but again pebble beach and beds and a few Tavernas for drinks/eats even Greek music advertised. You have plenty of bars and Taverns by the boats and views out to sea but try the places further in as they are really good and will be cheaper and less busy.Visited August 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 26 August 2024

Boring Island. Not much activity.
There was a constant heavy wind all day, picking up extra from late afternoon, so all water (ocean and pools) were cold. No water activities.
Only very few sites worthwhile visiting on the island. Rented a car, and one day would have been enough.
Little traffic, because of few tourists.

We visited this beautiful island for one week in Corona times. It is a very beautiful, green isle with great beaches. The people are very friendly and helpfull. We stayed in Kokkari, but visited also other places. I recommend the Potami waterfalls, Platanos, the boattour with Captein Andreas en Pytagoreas.

I have had 2 holidays in Kokarri recently and loved everything about them. So many bars and restaurants but my favourite restaurant was Avli, food amazing and live traditional music evenings so different. The staff are so welcoming. A new cocktail bar/restaurant on the beach is Nusa, again fabulous food with a perfect view over the bay.
I booked on a hiking trip into the hills and booked yoga at the surf school, both were very good.
I look forward to returning next year.

I stayed in the little village of Kokkari for two nights as a pit stop on my way back to the states. I absolutely fell in love. Such a beautiful place. It’s quaint, but lively, and the locals are accommodating and friendly.
There were enough cafes and such without the town being overrun with tourist mobs, and there was an overall leisure atmosphere and slow pace.
Samos was my first taste of Greece, and I like that it’s lesser known than it’s more tourist-oriented counterparts like Mykonos and Santorini. I haven’t had the chance to return since then, but I plan to move there someday, I miss it so much.

Samos is a relatively small island. It it not too crowded. you can always find space in beaches or in restaurants.
It is full of vegetation, pine trees and olive trees.
The beaches are plenty, both with pebbles and sand.
Kokkari, marathokampos kai pythagoreio are the main tourist spots.
Overall 10/10.

We had an absolutely perfect evening at the open-air cinema in Mytilini. The cinema is situated in a small garden and seats about 100 people on ordinary plastic chairs. The movies are typically hollywood blockbusters (original version with Greek subtitles). When you're seated an employee comes round asking if you'd like anything to eat (souvlaki, grilled stuff, pizzas, etc.) or drink. When we visited there were two intermissions because the film rolls (don't know the proper term) had to be changed like in the days before everything was digitalized :)
And to top it all - at one point the cinema owner came round to all guests and served us donuts in syrup ("they're free, my mother made these ", he whispered so as to not disturb the movie...a very special evening under the warm, starry skies of Samos :)

Kokkari must be the most wonderful and peaceful place I’ve ever been. Friendly and heartwarming people who goes out of their way to make your stay a fab one. Kokkari is not flooded by tourists - perhaps the best reason for coming here. It’s a place for charging your batteries, and for relaxation. Kokkari is the genuine Greece.
Beaches are mainly pebble beaches with wonderful crystal clear waters.
Good variety of tavernas and shops.
Tips: I would highly recommend restaurant Mezedaki. Its run by the lovely Sophia, with equally lovely staff, and it's hugely popular due to the fantastic service, and heavenly fresh homemade food.

Salve a tutti!

Buone vacanze!
