The road to Rocca Sillana is not for the faint hearted. There is then a very steep hillside track up the side of the hill (about 15 minutes) so not for small kids, the elderly or anyone with mobility issues. We were there already at 11 trying to avoid the heat so the gate was closed. But you can still see the impressive castle... More

The fact that it was closed at 15.20 and we were not allowed to enter until 16.00, despite the fact that we had walked up and the attendant was already there. We walked back down the hill and got an ice cream instead.
