About
While Sardinia doesn't lack Nuraghi to visit, the Nuraghi Majori is extra special because it would certainly appeal to couples with young children. There's a small entrance fee. Brochures are supplied in multiple languages. Visitors are given a large flashlight in order to see the interior. It doesn't take long to visit the two-story stone structure. The view up top is a great photo op. Children will adore the fact that there are bats in the largest room. While it's discouraged to shine the flashlight on them, it's a great way to see these cute, tiny creatures in the wild (and to get a whiff of bat guano). There's a small, cute gift shop and clean mens and ladies toilets. The road to this nuraghi isn't paved (potholes galore) but it's not far from the main mountain road of Tempio Pausania.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Very close to the town Tempio Pausania (less than 10 minutes by car!). Absolutely worth visiting (10 euros in 3) and really nice and prepared local staff!! Do not miss the colony of small bats inside the nuraghe. Nearby there is a super good refreshment!!!!

Excursion in the middle of a cork forest and other wonderful plants, we even met a wild turtle along the way! Well-preserved large Nuraghe, the children really enjoyed exploring with torches to look for bats! Pleasant to admire this important piece of our very distant history... Too bad when we went there was no guide. I definitely recommend it!

Cool inside the ruins, amazing to think how old they are - it's so lovely to see the bats, which look like tiny little Hamsters, with wings! How do they hang upside down and not fall?
The lady in the gift shop was really warm and friendly and the setting is lovely! Go and visit the restaurant too, which is yummy!

Well worth the visit. Impressive 3500 years old ruin, in a well kept area with a simple botanical garden. The kids loved the history, the structure and the bat colony. All adequately covered in 30 minutes. Welcoming and nice staff.

The Nuraghe Majori is definitely worth a visit if in the area of Tempio Pausanius. Having seen a few other nuraghe in Sardinia this one had the beauty of being partially intact and not just a ruin. It also has the advanatge of being the home of a small colony of horse shoe bats in the summer and also set amongst a beautifiul wood of cork trees. Finally it is managed and maintained by a great lady who is happy to give a guided tour and also keep the surrounding area in its natural beauty. A great break from the cities and beaches of Sardinia!

Well worth a visit, it's a self guided tour but you get a torch with your ticket. The stone structure reminds me of Newgrange in Co Meath, as there the builders had to place huge boulders precisely to create the still standing structure. The horseshoe bats are so tiny but look comfortably in place clinging to the underside of the chamber roof. This historic site is about 5 mins walk from the roadside car park, however if you purchase some thing from the nearby restaurant you can park in their lovely shady car park.

Fitted with a torch we were sent into this colossal edifice built of boulders. Interesting to see, whatever the neolitic people meant it for. The bats were obviously used to having guests.
Worth a visit but we would have liked to see more information signs on the plants along the nature path.

We happened to drive by this place and parked in the car park on the road. A short and pleasant stroll up to the entrance. We bought the 3 Euro tickets and the very cheerful attendant gave us a flashlight and a guide. The bats were the highlight for us. Pretty interesting history. It was an enjoyable stop.

This Nuraghe is a small place but everything is done with love. The small path around it, the tiny nice details and you can see some bats too. We payed 3 Euros per person which many people might consider as too much, but we think is worth it to preserve this place.

Is this Sardinian type garden worth a visit in itself? I'm looking for interesting / unusual gardens to visit in this area of Sardinia in July. Thanks for any suggestions.
