Not much of a monument but the view is spectacular.

The road up to the monument is more of a single file dirt track and more suitable for walkers than cars. We didn't go right up to the top but were stunned by the beautiful view from near the top.

Time to ponder

It’s not much to look at in the way of monuments, many people say it looks unfinished but once you reach the top the views are FAB.

A hidden piece of history
Aug 2018 • Family
After a google as what was local to our accommodation (Dalmally) this popped up (didn’t know it was local due to no signage, that we could see) A lovely quiet, scenic walk. The path we took takes you past a beautiful waterfall under the bridge (you have to go down the bank to see it as it is hidden away but you can hear it from the road)
As it it located up high there is a steady incline to get to the monument and once you’re up there the views are amazing!

Gentle stroll with stunning views
Jul 2018 • Family
This place is a hidden gem and easy to access once you have found the right turning off the main road. Simply park on the verge and stroll up the track for maybe 45 minutes. We took the kids and a picnic and combined it with a boat hire trip on Loch Awe which is nearby.

Worth a look

Lovely walk with great views. If in Dalmally definitely worth a wee visit to see the surrounding scenery viewed from the monument to this local gaelic poet.

Passed the signpost for this and decided to have a quick look. Impressive monument and worth climbing the steps on the hillside for a look at the stunning views.
Nothing else there but if you’re passing it take 10 minutes out for the scenery!

great views of the loch

Nice little monument....worth a look.
It is amongst an area of forestry that has been cut down so the immediate surroundings look a bit bear.

Great Views
Mar 2018 • Friends
I have seen this monument on the hillside for many years on the road from Inveraray to Dalmally. I often wondered what it was. During a recent trip to Dalmamlly I took a trek up the forrectry road from Dalmally station. The monument is clearly signposted from the station. It's a very pleasant 20 min walk to the monument and it offers great views across Loch Awe and its environs. The monument is to a local gaelic poet. Well worth the walk!
