- AnnieMalton, United Kingdom1 contributionLovely museum well worth a visitThis is a lovely museum with all sorts of very interesting artefacts. The staff are lovely and helped me with my pram when entering. There were fun activities to keep my little boy entertained which allowed me to have a good look round. Well worth a visit and for £3 per adult and free admission for children it is very good value.Visited October 2023Travelled with familyWritten 28 October 2023
- GRYork, United Kingdom1 contributionMalton Museum’s historical tour of MaltonWe did the guided tour of Malton and it is a ‘must do’ whether you are local or visitor. With nearly 240 listed buildings and great stories, Malton is a fascinating town, and the story of it was really well explained by our two guides. I would really recommend this tour, which lasts about 90 minutes. Don’t forget to visit the Malton Museum as well!Visited August 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 19 August 2024
- Getaway083924913071 contributionHow Malton became the bread basket of West Yorks.I took the Georgian Malton tour with our local history group. Each of us was provided with a head set so that we could clearly hear the guides as we walked around the town. It was so interesting to hear how, in Georgian times, Malton literally became the Bread Basket of West Yorkshire. We also heard about interesting and important characters of the town. Would highly recommend this tour. I believe they offer several tours on different subjects which I hope to go on at some point.Visited August 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 22 August 2024
- jen19turnerNewcastle upon Tyne, United Kingdom7 contributionsMalton Museum horse tourOn a recent visit to friends in Pocklington we went on a “horse tour” by Malton Museum. Our guides Andy and Chris were fun and informative testing our knowledge of horse racing (zilch) and local landmarks (the Gallops). The use of earphones ensured we could hear everything and made the tour more interactive and enjoyable I would thoroughly recommend a visit to this delightful place and include one of the several walking tours on offerVisited September 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 9 September 2024

Came specifically to see the Pocklington Shield on the last Wednesday afternoon in April. Paid the £5 each entrance fee but was hampered by the volunteer who refused to move from the front of the display case for at least 20 minutes whilst she talked about it to a couple of visitors. The museum itself is well worth going round. Didn't really see much of the shield in the end.

I visited the museum with my 5 year old daughter over Easter. The exhibits are well laid out and interesting, but the main highlight was the large range of activities for children. Considering the museum only has two rooms, there were 4 or 5 things for her to do, some of which she could get on with by herself while I looked round. The activities would appeal to a range of primary ages, and the volunteers were really welcoming. She had a brilliant time.

Went on the Malton museum walking tour tonight.
Loved it, it was a stroll in and around the Market place telling of the Georgians of Malton and Georgian buildings . Fascinating it was and worth the £8.
The guides Louise and Andy were friendly and informative along with their helpers.
What was especially good was the type of intercom used to talk to us, brilliant.
I am looking forward to the next tour/walk and would definitely anyone wanting to know more about Malton to try it.

During a very brief stay near Malton I had a couple of questions about the history and development of the town; the Roman background; why were the towns on either side of the river different names... very friendly reception and a good half hour explanation of my questions.. they obviously love the town and their museum!

Well you can see everything in half an hour and will learn a lot about Malton and the surrounding area's economy in the process from Roman times to the present day . We had spent half a day walking round and were pleased to find the history and function of buildings we had seen explained in detail . Since this an entirely voluntary effort please donate !

The two lovely ladies at the musuem spoke with passion and knowledge about the Malton area and the items in the museum. It is small but perfectly formed.

An excellent little museum.
They have a lot of very local finds covering roman to recent history. Very clearly presented and a lot of kids to do.
