Visited Mere Sands Wood for a walk and picnic and had a lovely day. Our 4 and 1 year olds enjoyed exploring and we were able to keep a safe distance from other walkers with no problems at all. The site is flat and accessible for all, and the coffee shop is open for take out drinks and snacks to take with you. We had a lovely picnic, fed the ducks some seed and saw squirrels, jays and a variety of other birds which fascinated our nature loving 4 year old. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable, and more than happy to stop for a chat with the children. A great day out for us all.

The nature reserve itself is so relaxing to stroll around. So peaceful. However, our disappointment was the cafe. We expected to eat inside and enjoy, perhaps, at least a toasted teacake, sandwich, bacon buttie or the likes. Couldn't sit at the tables, no food available other than chocolate bars. Very disappointing and the coffee from the machine was lukewarm. We spoke to several other people who'd been disappointed too, so not just us.

been here many a time over the years but never again ! They have employed an aggressive parking company. Went 21st july in lockdown, tried to pay on way out with bank card but machine not working properly ! No cash as it was the height of covid and difficult to get any change from anywhere. Appealed against the parking charge to be told "if you cant pay dont stay" yet the signs clearly say pay on exit. Also the parking companies e mails go to your junk folder !! Have now got debt collectors notice. Thank you from an NHS worker who worked throughout the pandemic !

As a family we have been many times, in all weathers. It’s a great place to escape to for an hour or two. There are a several hides along around the reserve for observations and a few different route options (some better accessible than others). There’s a particular stretch I am fond of which overlooks the fields and it is so peaceful. It is £2 to park or you can buy an annual pass, which is well worth the money if you see yourself coming a few times a year. They have recently resurfaced the car park so it is no longer unsteady, plus I see they have also opened a cafe, although I have not tried this yet.
