Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The Bastei is actually always worth a visit. Despite the parking fee of €7 for 4 hours, only one toilet is open during the holidays when it is very busy. The Neurathen rock castle, which many tourists wanted to visit, is also closed.

The scenery and views at Bastei make for a unique experience.
With sandstone hills jutting from the landscape, they offer a phenomenal backdrop for a day or two of exploration.
We were lucky enough to experience snow falling during our time at Bastei which added further to the majesty of the surroundings.

Really nice place to see the bridge made out of stone and have amazing views of the surrounding area and the river close to you. Has a park and ride if you park away but has closer parking. Nice place had a great time walking around the park and seeing how high up you are, gives you some really memorable pictures and memories of you or your family, perfect place to go to get out of your car with your family and go walking around for a couple of hours. Could probably spend all day there if you want as the park was really big and had plenty of different area to explore.

Would come back and explore more of it l.

This was my least favorite excursion on our Elbe River cruise. It didn't help that it was overcast, muting the rock formation colors, and then began pouring rain when we were out at the most exposed point. The views of the Elbe from above are fantastic, and those will be my favorite memories of this place, but anyone who has ever seen hoodoos in the American west should agree that those rock formations are more spectacularly colored and generally more interesting and beautiful than those at the Bastei.

Bastei was a great excursion destination. We walked along a well-marked path from the nearby hotel, facing uphill. It was already late afternoon and a lot of people came to meet us. Only a handful of people went up to the rocks themselves. The weather was favorable and we were able to photograph the rock formations in complete peace. From the number of people who meet it, you can conclude that you should visit here early in the morning or later in the afternoon to avoid the crowds. The destination is not suitable for people with poor mobility.

Now I have to breathe. We were recently at the Bastei and have the car literally parked in the parking lot. For 4 hours we paid 7€. A camera scans every car as it enters and exits. Last week I disposed of the ticket now and today comes a reminder to pay 54€. I guess that system isn't right.

Coming from Berlin, it is located beyond Dresden, in Saxony. About three hours drive to the parking lot, where you take the shuttle that leaves at the beginning of the walking path that leads to visit this incredible nature park, on paths that go up and down passing through crevasses and tunnels carved into the rock; all with spectacular views of the plain and the Elbe river below. Let's say, very small, it reminds us of Death Valley.

The view here is really wonderful. Accordingly, it is very popular here and there is usually a lot going on. There is also a good choice of restaurants, from 2 beer gardens to an upscale restaurant. If you are a good walker, you should choose the route from Rathen, which is a nice hiking trail instead of the wide path from the car park directly by the Bastei.

My favorite place to enjoy nature in Germany, and possibly all over Europe. Around 1 hour hike and you can continue the hike beyond reaching Bastei Bridge.
Wonderful ice-cream when you cross the river and you can lie on the grass and enjoy the view

The first time I visited the Bastei, I took the train from Dresden. For a seventy year old, it was a bit of a hike to the top. Well lo and behold, I discovered once on top you can take a Bus there! You can also drive to the top.
