Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Some time ago the local administration decided to convert a forgotten military cemetery into a historical monument. It is a successful transformation - the monument commemorates many local historical events. Some graves are related to Russian Imperial army, some others - to Romanian soldiers. There are some ordinary people tombstones also. All together it makes quite good impression. The site is located very conveniently on the main Tiraspol to Chisinau road in Bendery, so does not require any detour.

It's a very good thing they have kept the cemetery even though the surrounding area contains roads and flats. A statue of former imperial Russian minister Potemkin stands in front of the colonade through which you enter the cemetery. It's calm and you can spend some times reading the names on the larger tombstones. A recommended stop on your way to Tiraspol.

We had a day tour through Bender, this was our first stop with our guide. The cemetery is very well kept and has many sections from different war periods. You can't miss this place with its wonderful entrance, it's a nice photo op.

524 men graves were demolished to build such a memorial complex in the same place. It’s considered as a crime. This park was established by the first president of Transnistria. It contains many graves for the soldiers and some famous people. It’s located in Bender

Memorials to those who fought in Transniester wars from the 1800s on. Some Russian, Hungarian, Moldovan. This region has a very complex history of wars back and forth, most recently 1990 to 1992. Worth a stop since you are there anyway

This was our first stop after crossing into Transnistria from Moldova, after changing some Euro's to Rouble's at Sheriff store, we crossed the road to the cemetery, which was obviously well cared for. Our guide walked us around and gave us a potted history of people buried there although there appears to be two versions of story Moldovan/Romanian and Soviet.

This cemetery contains the graves of soldiers of many countries - not only this one - who died for their country: Russians, who came in the eighteenth century with Potemkin, Swedes, who came with Charles XII (at the end of the path on the left), French, Germans, Hungarians who died in the Second World War... My driver, a Ukrainian, told me the proper name was the cemetery of "those who died for their country". It is beautifully kept.

In front of the monumental entrance, there stands a magnificent statue of General Potemkin, the lover - some say the husband - of Catherine the Great, who captured Bender fortress from the Ottomans.

(The fortress was also where Charles XII and his remaining men came after the Battle of Poltava. It is now a military barracks, so tourists can't visit. You get a decent view of the walls and roofs from a bridge near Tiraspol.)

The cemetery is well maintained- pristine! On the grounds is a small Russian Orthodox chapel. Out front is the monument to Grigoriy Potyomkin and the entrance is amazing architecture.

This cemetery isn't far from the arch of triumph. A quiet atmosphere, with a small chapel on one side.

If you're near here having just arrived across the border then it is worth a short stop. Wander around the graves and try to understand some of their history.
