Once you've parked (which is easy and free) the medieval city is well worth ambling around. There's plenty to see but not so much that it is overwhelming or you need to rush.

A remarkable hill-top medieval area. Unique in having five castles. The church, museum and birds of prey must all be seen.

The medieval city is above the town with views across. Artisan shops, and of course the bird display.

Visited many times several years ago and revisited recently with friends. Nice atmosphere and several restaurants to while away a pleasant lunchtime. Best to visit out of high season in my opinion as can be crowded July/August.

In any weather this is a lovely spot to visit. Amazing views and some great sights to see, including some wonderful photo opportunities. There are some coffee shops too which are nice.

There is a climb up to the old part of Chauvigny but it is well worth it. We watched the falconry display from outside the castle then wandered up to the art shops and restaurants. All of it was quite charming.

This is well worth the modest climb to visit the older part of Chauvigny (a pleasant town). One gets good views over the surrounding countryside.

It's over 1,000 years old and getting a little touristy, but there's a great view and the falconry display is well worth a visit. I'd suggest Les Choucas for lunch.

You have the best of both worlds here . A modern busy town at the bottom that has a great weekly market . With a fantastic medieval old town on top of the hill. It has lots of little artesian shops and interesting places to...More

The weather was really good and only able to walk round but clearly showed the place is worth a visit in the better months when it is open to the public. Certainly plan to visit again.
