Took the return trip from Saint-Valery to Crotoy. The changing of the engines mid-way provided opportunity to see them up close and working. After the train trip we discovered that it is possible to get the boat one way and return via the train, in...More

Really interesting railway and great value for money. The ride all the way through to Cayeux sur Mer is a good distance, but there is not a lot to do there. St Valerie is great for a wander for a few hours.

It was fun to travel on a steam train around the Estuary. The views were interesting rather than spectacular, We stopped at Le Crotoy for lunch which was not much more than a beach with a number of restaurants. Glad we had the trip on...More

A wonderful example of a steam railway preserved with a lot of tlc. The carriages and engines used for the daily trips are well maintained and the journeys very enjoyable, though nowadays somewhat expensive. Well worth making a day of it.

Covering the whole Baie de Somme from Cayeux sur Mer until Le Crotoy, the old train service is proposed as a must-see. Although the service itself is flawless and the equipment is in perfect shape, the experience could be improved if the slow movements of...More

This is a great opportunity to experience a wonderfully preserved steam railway and see parts of the Somme that are largely inaccessible. The views aren't particularly wonderful, as the train wends slowly through the marais and very few settlements. But the lovely engines and carriages...More

An interesting journey around the bay, took a good hour, but it's about the journey, and riding in old coaches which had wooden seats, and occasionally wonderful views. Good value, especially the return trip, and great for children
