Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This is a lovely place to spend an entire day with friends, family or a special date. There is always so much to see and do there. I would go online, ahead of time, to observe whether they are having a special event, as they sometimes do. Occasionally, there are fireworks, during certain months, on weekends. But, whether there is an event or not, this is a nice place to spend the day/evening.
There are a variety of restaurants, and hotels, with great views of the harbor. I would suggest reservations for most restaurants, however. It is gets very crowded at the marina, especially on Friday, Saturdays and Sundays. There are an array of specialty shops, to do a little shopping. FYI- There is also a large indoor discount mall, within 10 min. from there, as well.
At the marina, there are several attractions to visit, such as the water fountain show and gardens, and upscale day spa, located in the lobby of the Gaylord Hotel. There is a beautiful and exciting ferris wheel to ride, with amazing views of the city. One can really get your exercise on, walking all over the area, so, make sure you have comfortable shoes. You can walk or take a 5 minute drive, over to the MGM hotel/casino, and visit more shops. Parking at the casino is free. At the marina, parking is ample, as there are plenty of indoor parking lots. However, make a note to pay your parking fee, before you get into your car, to exit. Quite a few people forget, and hold up the line at the parking exits, which become very annoying. On weekends, it can take awhile to exit the parking lots, if there are special events going on. Only drawback, there is no metro train to this location, from the city of Washington, D.C. proper. The marina is located on the other side of the river, from downtown D.C. If you are attending a meeting, conference, or convention at the marina, it is not convenient to visit the downtown area of the city. You will be limited to activities and restaurants only available at the marina, or MGM Grand casino. However, one can take a water taxi from Old Town, Alexandria, Virginia or the brand new D.C. District Harbor, which might take an hour, to arrive at the marina.

We visited the National harbor this past weekend in cold winter months so the marina was pretty desolate with shrink wrapped boats but we have been here during boating season and it’s a happening boaters destination.

National Harbour is beautiful. Perfect place to watch the sunset with a drink or ice cream in hand. Family friendly atmosphere too which was pleasing.

My family and I enjoyed walking daily on the pier. We were able to see fish jumping in and out of the water, the water taxi we rode twice, we ate at many of the restaurants and enjoyed the ice cream. Oh, I can not forget the big screen television where we were able to see a movie and there were entertainment. Great place to visit for many occasions.

Best clean marina and customer service in town! NHR Marian services are impeccable! The manager (Kenny) takes pride in delivering stellar customer personalize service. I highly recommend adding this location as a must visit when cruising on the Potomac.

We were so lucky that it was a sun shining day. The most amazing attraction is the sculpture in the sand in that little beach area. Kids were in the Easter outfit. People taking pictures here and there. It was just a very relax place to sit and watch.

Stopped by to see the ferris wheel, which is pretty cool, amazing views. A great area to visit for restaurants, movies on the water and live music. Lots to do for families in the area between the candy stores and games on the sand beach by the pier.

I did not see anyone fishing. I did see people using canoes and kayaks.

Sorry, I don't know the area well. I flew into Ronald Reagan and took a cab ($30) to the hotel in National Harbor. National Harbor itself is quite walkable. I understood there was transportation to some of the further attractions but I did not use it.
