The Museum's aim is to preserve, conserve and disseminate the cultural heritage and tradition of Cephalonia, along with the elements that give evidence of the Ionian civilization, with the particularities of that social era, especially during the foreign occupations (1204-1864) as well as the portrayal of the island before the earthquakes of 1953.

This small museum is packed with objects related to the life and history of the island. There are descriptions in English. I think the museum would benefit from an additional overview of Kefalonia's history.

This is a lovely little museum hidden under a public library. A rather eclectic mix of objects and paintings ranging from coins to dresses and religious icons. Very worthy of a visit.

A museum providing a very good idea of the urban culture of Cephalonia - unfortunately now largely lost - and of the disaster that the island suffered from the 1953 earthquakes. A museum with fine material, that should be expanded. A museum guide (book) would...More

The entrance fee is 4 Euros per person. Children under 12 years old are free and for groups, over 20 people, the entrance fee is 3 Euros per person. There are stairs for the toilets as they are up in the library.
