The lake offers an amazing view of Fuji San. It's not crowded and easily to walk around the lake. There is a place for camping as well or you can rent a bicycle or just walk is relaxing.

I've been to Yamanakako, Motosuko and Kawaguchiko, but the view from Tanukiko is the most elegant. There's a 200 meter span of lakeshore that has an unimpeded view of the mountain. The view from here is more graceful compared to the views from the other lakes mentioned above, which show somewhat of a "shoulder" midway down the slopes of Mt.... More

Not many foreign tourists like Lake Kawaguchi and you can walk 1 round around the lake within 1 hour. The reflection of Mt Fuji on the water is beautiful.

The first sight of Mt. Fuji while arrive at the Lake Tanuki - can't believe - It's so beautiful and amazing, the Mt. Fuji just there so close. We were really lucky and able to see the Mt. Fuji on date 10 Jan. 2016. We rent the bike JPY500 for one hour (JPY300 for half hour), ride the bike around... More

This is one of nature's finest settings. There's about a two-mile walking/biking trail around the lake and the views of Mt Fuji are outstanding. Bikes can be rented or you can bring your own. Personally, I walked and very much enjoyed the experience.

It is best to try and go see this place on a clear day where you can see Mt.Fuji. The nature in the area is wonderful and if you have time, you can walk around the lake. If you want, there are camp sites all around the lake and the view of Mt.Fuji early morning is the best. From the... More

Lake Tanuki - park is where we had picnic lunch, and a lovely backdrop it is! Walking through around the lake is a must, different angles and sceneries will be enjoyed. I would like to go back to this place given a chance.
