About
The Fenn Bell Conservation Project was started with two Kune Kune pigs, Ginger and Spice. Seeing an add on the internet I fell in love with them and decided to bring them home to meet the wife. Little did I know how taking these two pigs on would change my life and open up a whole new world for me. Fast forward to today and we have achieved so much. We have lots of local schools visit us to learn

Lovely local attraction at a reasonable price.
Apr 2021 • Family
Wonderful little zoo with loads to offer, and a fun environment, especially for small children. At the price they charge it’s a no brainer, and hope they’ll be able to maintain the current prices as it’s genuinely reasonable - a rarity these days.

We live locally and have visited before Covid, so post Covid I wasn’t sure what to expect, but the Pre-booking works brilliantly, and we made the conscious decision to visit first thing on a Sunday as we know how popular the attraction is and parking can be difficult if at full capacity. Entry is easy and only a tiny queue to get a wrist band. You get either an AM or PM slot and it’s more than enough time.

My two little boys loved the selection of animals and the owners are clearly investing every bit of cash in improving the enclosures and the site in general. We had lots of fun looking at the meerkats, monkeys, and parrots in particular.

Once you’ve had a meander around the animals, there’s usually a quad bike ‘train’ that the kids love, not currently running but that gives you a different view to the raised platforms being built around the site.

For young kids there’s some play equipment too and plenty of seating. There’s some lovely food on offer and the usual coffee stand.

Couple of things to be aware of:

you can’t eat your own food on site ( I assume they allow kids with dietary conditions as an exception but I’d check before you go). To be honest this is not an issue, they have a good food stall inside and the pub offers lovely meals at a reasonable price, I think that’s currently running on a booking system too. Given the entry fee is so small, I don’t think this is a huge sacrifice if you are normally a picnic kinda family.

At the back there is a one way system but some people get a little confused and end up walking back past you. Not a huge deal with masks on, but something to be aware of.

Lastly if you have very young kids, in the back area there are some decorations ( a skeleton in particular) which I assume are used for Halloween, they are really quite scary and gave my youngest a hell of a fright. Not a big deal for most but just keep an eye out if you have little ones that scare easily.

Other than those things this is a little treasure of a site and I wish them every success as they continue to grow and improve the site.

We’ll definitely be back.

Fenn bell conservation zoo keeper day experience
Jun 2021 • Couples
Great zoo keeper for a day experience today 04/06/2021.
The gift was for my wife, and I was allowed to be involved for photos and help out.
Great day, our guide was super knowledgeable, I swear I don't know how he has such a great wealth of knowledge for someone so young. Jack knows who he is, and we thank him.
Lunch was supplied, and the team looked after us.
It was raining all day, but it did not stop us enjoying it, you see and get involved in almost everything (obviously the dangerous animals you cannot go in with) but lemur, foxes, meerkat, coati, Binturong, to name just a few.

Great day.

An excellent zoo and conservation project
Apr 2021 • Couples
The owner has spent a lot of time and money to give his animals excellent homes, well laid out and interesting for them. The visitor experience is well thought out with sturdy walkways, giving great views of the enclosures. There are also rest ares with benches and tables. Even the little people are provided with extensive play equipment. We spent a very pleasant afternoon, ending with ice cream in the sun. Well done all round, we will be back with family soon.

Great experience!
Apr 2021
We had a great time at the Fenn Bell Conservation Project. Had a chance to speak to the owner and it's great to see someone so passionate build this entire project himself. Only when you realise the vast amount of effort put into this, you can appreciate this place. Very nice playground for the kids as well and plenty of outdoor seating available.

Great for small children
Apr 2021 • Family
Re visited today with grandsons of 5 and 2 and wonderful to go somewhere else other than just a park since lockdown. Well organised and great value for money. The boys loved seeing all the animals especially the Meerkats and best treat was the play area at the end which they both loved and was very safe. So glad to see this venue open again after such a disastrous year for them

Great little zoo
Oct 2020 • Family
Great little zoo, the weather was not great but we found this zoo as it was 10 minutes from where we were staying, would definitely recommend, the animals were all in great condition and you could see they were well cared for.

Lovely park just need social distancing encouraged
Oct 2020 • Family
This place is great for the price and the animals are so well looked after! The best thing for us was the Halloween experience on the trailer, the kids loved it. The only thing that let it down for us was how many people were in the park. This could of been more organised maybe with staggered visiting times. There was no staff encouraging social distancing and people letting children run up and down without a care in the world. We walked around went on the trailer bought some snacks for the car and made our way home. We will visit again maybe when not half term.

First visit to our local friendly zoo
Oct 2020 • Couples
Friends had told us about this local pub serving lovely food which also had a zoo. We had previously enjoyed a meal in the pub but hadn't visited the zoo until today - very impressed! It was bigger than we were expecting, with beautiful birds and animals in creative enclosures. Most of the paths are wheelchair-friendly and there are lots of covered areas with picnic tables for having pub food & drinks outside. Andy and team are welcoming and clearly passionate about animal welfare!

Fox Experience
Oct 2020 • Couples
We came for the fox experience which was easily booked and arranged online.

The handler / keeper was great! She made us feel comfortable and safe during the entire experience. She was very knowledgeable and told us plenty of facts and info!

COVID - we were made to wash our hands multiple times, use hand sanitizer, and have out temperature recorded. This made us feel more safe aswell.

The only issue was the other customers not following covid rules around the zoo that were well signposted - I don’t blame fenn bell for this at all, just the inconsiderate customers.

Overall we’re very happy with the experience and would recommend!

UNBELIEVABLE FANTASTIC MINI ZOO, £5 BUT PEOPLE STILL WHINGE, MORONS!
Oct 2020
Fantastic mini zoo at FENN BELL st. Mary, Hoo
Just £5 entrance fee which goes towards the conservation project, allowing you to spend as much time as you want with these animals that have been generously rescued by an ex plumber, Andy Cowell and his wife and some people moan, morons
The lovely couple set this up unfunded and run it on very limited funds as expertly as they can. The animals are mainly rescued, abandoned and endangered but now have a fantastic life being cared for and loved at Fenn Bell so instead of finding fault, moaning and being critical about these people and this place, take a look at how well it has been built, how much selfless attention has been put into it, 24/7.
When did you moaners last do something for the benefit of animals that otherwise may not be here?
Where else can you go for a day for £5......... nowhere, plus know that money is not for a luxury lifestyle for the owners but to sustain the life of animals
Hang your head in shame you people who criticise and just look at your own achievements, nothing in comparison to what these people have done
So come on then, if not happy and think you can do better, then volunteer to help just one day per month is required, if you can paint, clean, garden construct or do anything to help stop whinging and help this fantastic place be successful 😽
