One thing I can say is that Hartbeespoort dam feels like a holiday place. Everything you want and need is just here. So much to do and keep your kids busy with. The dam and everything in harties is just breath taking.

We usually go to Schoemansville Oewer Club. A nice clean and refreshing camp site. You cannot have enough of it. The view is great and the place is quiet. It’s good for relaxing, water sports and fishing. A play area for kids is also available.

There are and endless number of African Market Stalls at the Village. The food at the restaurant was good, but unfortunately live music was too loud.

Such a pitty.... this is such a beautiful part of our country. The municipality is not keeping up with maintenance and let weeds grow over at least half the dam. Some boats are even grown stuck in the water because of this. Some drastic measures...More

The dam has been plagued by problems of blue-green algal problems and sewerage causing bad smells and green water. But when I recently visited it seems to have improved. "Harties" as the locals call it has some really great places and some very awful places....More
