Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

AguaExtreme is not currently on tripadvisor, but we went with them after sitting and visiting with them. We could not have been happier. Diego, our guide, speaks excellent English/Spanish. He was incredibly knowledgeable, and it was obvious that safety on each tour was first priority. The river was super fun, even in the dry season (July). I highly recommend the river and the tour company AguaExtreme!

Having rafted the mighty Futaleufu River and other big rivers in Chile, I decided to try Ecuador this year.

We rafted the Quijos, Jondachi, and Jatunacu. I have posted reviews of the Quijos and Jondachi elsewhere on trip advisor.

To raft the Jatunacu, you need to base yourself in Tena, Ecuador, a city full of bars and restaurants on the edge of Ecuador's jungle/rain forest.

There are many big rivers near Tena, with different types of scenery.

The Jatunacu is a wide open river that travels along flat country at a low elevation. The water is warm and the air is hot and humid. Bugs are a minor annoyance.

The Jatunacu has lots of fun waves and feels very safe for new rafters, even on class 3 or 4 rapids, because the river is so wide open and has no steep drops.

Like the other rivers mentioned above, if you want to enjoy some whitewater rafting in Ecuador, the Jatunacu is a fun, safe, must-do trip.

Depending on the water level the wave trains can be really big and bouncy. Great fun class three whitewater in Ecuador.

I booked through Amazon Adventures (located near river next to Cavemen tours). My guide was great and they are very safe. They will take photos and video of your raft trip and don't charge you extra. Cavemen (altough I didnt use) was very helpful in giving me advice on other fun things to do in Tena

We had a great day rafting and kayaking this river with Kayak Ecuador. Everything about their company was perfect from safety, equipment, food to guides. We had a family with us with children 9 & 11 who loved it. It's a class III so if you enjoy it I highly recommend rafting the Jondachi/Hollin which was much better for rapids and scenery. Kayak Ecuadors passion for what they do made this a trip of a lifetime.

I went last week and as it had been raining the waters were pretty high and fast, it was such an exciting experience. I've been rafting many times in different parts of the world, and this experience did not disappoint. Raft Amazonia's Eduardo booked me on the trip and I ended up going with Rios Ecuador, I think because they had to divide the number of people. But people at both companies were really nice and took care of you. Lots of fun.

We had a day of rafting on the Jatunyacu river and what a fun day it was! The river was high that day and the rapids were at least class III if not bordering on class IV. After a safety debrief, we were off - and within seconds we were paddling like mad through the first section of the river. It was so exciting! After about an hour, we took a break and had lunch alongside the river - a chance to admire the beauty of where we were. We were then off again and paddled another hour until we reached the point where two rivers merge together - which made for some tough paddling! As we reached the end of our trip, we were pleased to find a very clean facility nearby where we could shower and change for 50 cents. We had such a good time - it is a great river to raft on! Be sure to wear bug spray - a few in our group had lots of bites at the end of the day.

This river has nice scenery which you should not forget to enjoy between all the action. The whitewater is mostly water based and there are only a couple rocks, making it a very safe location for all ages.
