We had visited this temple dedicated to Lord Shiva during our sightseeing in Kumbakonam. We found this temple complex much smaller than Adi Kumbeshwar temple complex. There was no priest available in the main sanctum when we arrived in the morning maybe because it was the next day after long Shiva ratri night. The temple complex has a peaceful ambience.

Not only one has a lot of ekantha to perform dhyana in this temple, it offers peaceful and divine experience. Enriched with exquisite artistry, vast space dotted with upalayas, Lord Shiva here gives His darshan as Lord Someshwara and Mata Parvathi as Soma Sundari Devi. A must visit...

This temple is located right next to Adi Kumbeshwar temple and the main deity is Lord Shiva. The path leading to the entrance of the temple is very beautiful the temple is not crowded at all. The temple can be accessed from a road adajcent to Portamarai tank.

This temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. He is also known as the poor Someswaran here. This temple is generally sparsely visited, but during the year of Maha Maham, it becomes crowded and special Pujas are performed.

A huge temple! Spent about an hour to see all the deities and had very good visit. This temple faces east with a 5-tier Gopuram at the entrance. It also has an entrance in the south. Dravidian Architecture of the 13th century of the Chola period. Arumugam and Thenar Mozhi Ammal are the other deities located in this temple complex.

A medium sized Shiva temple right in the heart of the city very much adjacent to Sarangapani temple, the up liftment and maintenance is very much need of the hour, the government needs to look into the management for getting things done properly. If neglected we would be losing the culture and heritage place in a very short time. Although... More
